Hrishikesh Pandey: from C.I.D to OTT, how the industry has changed

Actor Hrishikesh Pandey, widely recognized for his roles in shows like C.I.D 2, recently opened up about how the entertainment industry has transformed over the years, especially with the rise of social media and digital platforms. Despite his long-standing career, Hrishikesh admitted that navigating online reactions continues to be challenging.

He reflected on how social media, though initially unfamiliar to him, has now become an unavoidable part of life. “Social media is everywhere now, even for someone like me who was never into it,” Hrishikesh shared. “I joined very late—I didn’t know much about Instagram or Facebook at first. But I’ve learned and adapted because that’s how things work today.”

Hrishikesh acknowledged that audience feedback is now instant and visible. While he listens to viewers’ opinions, he tries not to let them influence his creative choices. “I don’t allow comments to shape how I perform. Staying grounded is important. If you lose your sense of self in this industry, it’s easy to lose your way. Feedback matters, but I stick to what the story and character demand,” he explained.

He also praised how storytelling has broadened with the arrival of OTT and digital platforms. “It’s a really exciting time to be in this field. There are so many new formats and genres now. Back in the day, we had fewer opportunities, and actors were often judged by their appearance,” he said.

Hrishikesh revealed that he often got typecast in polished, sophisticated roles because of his looks. However, he’s eager to break out of that mold. “People think I can only play rich or well-spoken characters, but I’d love to try something completely different—something raw, grounded, even rough around the edges. I come from a simple background myself, so I know I can connect with those roles.”

He emphasized how the industry has become more inclusive, offering greater chances for talent to rise. “Today, good actors from all corners of India—even from small towns or abroad—are getting the spotlight. It’s easier to reach out to directors and showcase your skills. The doors have opened up, and good work is being recognized.”
