Come tomorrow and you'll get to see all Punjabis in festive mood, all thanks to Baisakhi. The festival commemorates the founding of the khalsa by Gobind Singh in 1699. Not only Sikhs but everyone around the globe celebrates the festival with extreme zest, joy and gusto.
Here are some of the television actors who speak about the memories that are associated with the festival.
Mohammad NazimI belong to village near Chandigarh. It is a Punjabi dominated area. We used to buy new clothes and eat lots of home made mithai and kheer. Vaishaki/Baisakhi is like New Year. I also used to eat makke ki roti and sarso da saag. The memories bring water in the mouth.
I used to go to the Gurudwara and eat at the langar. The sweet rice used to taste excellent with kaju thrown into it. I used to buy a new dress too for baisakhi. Freshly harvested stuff used to be bought home from my friend's farm house too. I am a proud Punjabi. We live life with fun.
I have lived in Delhi and Baisakhi for us, was all about food. Halwa is a must for the day. Festivals spent with family, are all very special and always memorable. I also remember we used to go out with our parents to India Gate and eat ice cream.
Baisakhi for us was a get together, all my cousins used to come and we'd have good food, Makkhi Ki Roti, Sarson Ka Saag. All of us used to relish good food and those were the best memories that I still remember.

My childhood celebrations of Baishakhi have been my best memories. In Punjab, we used to have cultural celebrations, where I'd participate in dance every year. However now that I am away from home, the festival is just about a get together.
Happy Baisakhi all you Punjabi folks out there!
