Film Review: Total Siyappa

Have you experienced that particular moment, when you are the only one who understands what you trying to say? And not because they lack the sensibility but because you are the one not making any sense at all. E. Niwas's Total Siyappa is one such film filled with many such moments of non sense. The only question you would want to ask at the end is 'Why?' Why make a movie without head or tail? I am not at all amazed when the movie was renamed for Aman Ki Asha to Total Siyappa. Because, there is definitly no Aman (peace), no Asha (hope), it's just "Total Siyappa" (complete mess).

Total Siyappa is a story about, Aman (Ali Zafar), who is in London, hopes to marry Asha (Yami Gautam), an Indian girl, also in London. He visits her parents' house to seek their permission to marry her. However, his plans to impress the family start failing when they discover that he is a Pakistani. Thus, it is about a series of unfortunate events that befall a good-hearted but hapless Pakistani boy while visiting his girlfriend's parents, leading to some of the funniest, chaotic and outrageous situations.

Now speaking about the performances, this flick is just a bunch of average actors coming together trying to put up a good show but fail miserably. Ali Zafar puts up a very average show, nothing much to mention about. As compared to his earlier films like Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and Chasme Badoor , this one was quite disappointing. Yami Gautam has a pretty face and doesn't pretty much do anything else throughout the movie. Saraa Khan, who essays the character of Jiya (Asha's sister), tends to overact in most of the scenes. Ace actor Anupam Kher is completely wasted in the film and has no share in countable funny moments. The only good to watch part of the film is Kirron Kher, who does a fabulous job with acting as well as her comic timing.

Neeraj Panday's story has nothing to keep you glued to your seat neither does it have any moments where you would fall off your seat, laughing. The edit was very poor, as the movie tends to become difficult to tolerate in the 1st half itself. Ali Zafar's music too doesn't work any wonders for the film. Though his voice does sound good, but that isn't the focus of the movie primarily.

Culminating everything, Total Siyappa is a major disappointment. Wouldn't recommend going watch it, unless it's a dire need for you to put yourself through 108 minutes of slow torturous death.
