Bollywood is famously known for it's music and dance sequences within a movie, a treat that Hollywood does not possess. From the golden era to the twenty first century, the importance of having songs in a movie has always been high. For this reason, every team gives more than its 100% in marketing their music album before the release of the movie itself. The latest trend rising high, is that of having an additional song at the end of the movie. BollyCurry might be among the very few to break out the news that this idea has been introduced so that the audience leave the movie theater with a positive review of the movie, no? And surprisingly, majority of the movie-end songs are the ones that end up becoming chart busters at the top of every playlist! So here's BollyCurry presenting to you it's very own collection of movie-end songs that have managed to create a stir around the industry.
"Lungi Dance"
A charm in it's own, the track "Lungi Dance" possessed sugar, spice and everything nice needed to make a super hit song. From Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone's lungi dance, to Yo Yo Honey Singh's rapping around and finally, the big tribute to South Superstar, Rajnikanth. Although the song itself received mixed reviews by critics, it was largely appreciated by the audience. After all, the makers of Chennai Express knew which way would bring them the most advantage. Verdict: Yay
"Saturday Saturday"
Looks like Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt left no stone unturned in showing off their sizzling chemistry to the audience. If the onscreen romance shown in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania was not enough, the movie's end surprised us with yet another song, although we were worried whether it was ever so relevant to have it? What exactly was Saturday's relevance to the movie again? Verdict: Nay
"Drama Queen"
The rom-com Hasee Toh Phasee truly gave the audience a good hasee, and the last song had us watch Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra do some drama on the dance floor. Although it was not a necessity to have this song on the list considering that the movie had a decent end, it's catchy and peppy lyrics were not long hidden from the audience and their playlist. Verdict: Yay-nay
"Dhoom Machale Dhoom"
When a song is overused to the point of losing it's original effect, it does not cause a dhoom. After the first "Dhoom Machale" song from the Dhoom Series became a hit, people went haywire with it's mash up in Dhoom 2. However, when Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif tried to pull off the same stunt for the third time, even Kaif's dhoom dance turned out to be a bigger doom. Verdict: Nay
"Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai"
Khoobsurat(2014) depicted a very serious background and an even more serious hero in the face of Fawad Khan. Hence, a party to cheer his mood was necessary to give the movie a lighter end. It might have been over the top to see Sonam Kapoor's freestyle dance yet again, despite having already shown it in "Engine Ki Seeti", but the overall impression was not so bad considering that it was the only song featuring both the lead actors shaking a leg. Verdict: Yay
A few of these songs may have appealed to the fans of the respective actors, but they were not a necessary ingredient to the movie or it's success. Every additional song at the end is only pictured for the marketing of the movie. Therefore the movies that do not use this technique definitely do not lose out on anything important. We would love to hear your verdict on those movie-end songs.
