Doree: Amar Upadhyay is all praises for his on screen daughter, calls her a one take star

COLORS' newly launched show 'Doree' has captured the attention of the viewers as it tells the tale of a six-year-old Doree standing up against a patriarchal society. The thought-provoking drama stars Sudhaa Chandran as Kailashi Devi, who runs the handloom empire in Varanasi, and Amar Upadhyay as Ganga Prasad, who's a foster father to Doree played by child actor Mahi Bhanushali. Amar had nothing but praise for his onscreen daughter ‘Doree' (played by Mahi Bhanushali) and hailed her as a one-take star. 

Amar Upadhyay playing the role of Ganga Prasad in COLORS’ ‘Doree’ says, “I’m grateful for the love that has come for our show Doree. A lion’s share of the credit for the appreciation goes to the adorable Mahi Bhanushali. She inspires us all onscreen and offscreen. COLORS, India's leading Hindi GEC, had earlier announced its collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Child Development's 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' initiative to address the issue of girl child abandonment through the launch of its new fiction show Doree. Television as a medium has played a huge role in holding a mirror to society and has led to many women becoming agents of change. With an aim to bring societal change and address the gender bias against girl child, through this association, COLORS aims to raise awareness about the social evil of girl child abandonment. In addition to launching a primetime show on the subject, as part of this association, COLORS will promote the 24-hour emergency toll-free Childline India helpline number (1098) for those seeking assistance for any abandoned girl child nationwide. Doree, airing every Monday to Friday at 9:00 pm on COLORS, aims to generate popular conversation and thereby raise awareness on the issue of girl child abandonment.
