Disha Vakani, remembered by television audiences as Dayaben from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, made a rare public appearance in Mumbai on Tuesday. The actress, who has stayed away from the spotlight for years, visited the famous Lalbaugcha Raja pandal for Ganpati darshan.
Vakani, dressed in a red and green saree with a heavy necklace, was seen entering the pandal under tight security. However, as soon as she noticed paparazzi cameras around her, she covered her face with a mask and quickly made her way inside. Several police officers accompanied her during the visit. After offering prayers, she exited the venue through special VIP arrangements, avoiding further attention.

She initially went on maternity leave from *Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah* but never returned to the show. For years, viewers have speculated about her possible comeback, though she has chosen not to respond to the rumours.
Just last month, Vakani was seen in another rare video, this time tying a rakhi to TMKOC producer Asit Modi on Raksha Bandhan. In the clip shared by Modi, she is seen performing his aarti and touching his feet. Alongside the video, Modi had written, “Some relationships are woven by destiny… they’re not of blood, but of the heart,” calling Vakani his sister beyond the screen bond. His emotional post highlighted the warmth they share outside the show.
While fans continue to hope for her return as Dayaben, reports suggest Vakani has shifted her focus entirely to family life. She married Mumbai-based chartered accountant Mayur Padia in 2015 and has since chosen to keep her personal and professional life away from constant public gaze.
Her brief appearance at Lalbaugcha Raja has reignited interest among fans, but for now, it seems Vakani is content with staying out of the limelight. Whether she revisits the sets of *Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah* or not remains uncertain, but her presence continues to hold a special place in television history.
