India is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grand mother of tradition. Our most valuable and most astrictive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India only !

Barely more than fifty years ago, on January 26, 1950 India became Indian Republic. During the transition period from 1947 to 1950, King George VI was the Head of the State. Lord Mountbatten and C. Rajagopalachari served as the Governor General of in this period. 26th of January was when the first President of , Dr. Rajendra Prasad was elected. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was the head of the constituent assembly and played a played a major role in the formation of Indian Constitution. That is why we celebrate the 26th January as Republic Day of .

Talking about and its diversity and culture, it is marked by a high degree of syncretism and cultural pluralism. It has managed to preserve established traditions while absorbing new customs, traditions, and ideas from invaders and immigrants and spreading its cultural influence to other parts of . This is what makes a nation and a perfect example of Unity in Diversity!

On this day of pride, Telly Buzz asks few stars about their favorites, belonging to their beloved nation ..

Ali Merchant:
Your Favorite Indian Festival: I like Eid as that's the only fest when I get to meet my family and relatives. It's like a trend to meet them and prepare saviya.

Your Favorite Holiday Destination in : It has to be . I like beaches and I go there often with my friends.

Your Favorite Indian Cuisine: I love Punjabi food. In that I love to hog on Butter Chicken. There is a dhaba in Andheri where you get good butter chicken. He makes it so nicely that as soon as you take a bite, it melts in your mouth.

Your Favorite Indian Attire: I would love to go for dhoti and kurta as it's very traditional and comfortable too. I have worn that in few shows and it looks good. The only thing would be that the dhoti should be readymade.

Avika Gor:Your Favorite Indian Festival: I love all the festivals in , as each and every festival is beautiful. Every festival comes with a unique excitement, like Diwali gives us joyous time with crackers, while Holi is great as we get to play with colors. In Navrathri, I love to dance to Garbha.

Your Favorite Holiday Destination in : I love to visit Lonavla and Matheran. But the most beautiful place for me is .

Your Favorite Indian Cuisine: Dal Chawal that my mom makes as it is delicious.

Your Favorite Indian Attire: I love to sport Gagra Choli

Amit Verma:Your Favorite Indian Festival: It has to be Diwali, as the whole city is so full of energy and lights. I like it more because the usage of crackers has got lesser nowadays. Everyone has a smile on their faces forgetting their worries. Also, they are happy to lose money on playing cards (laughs)

Your Favorite Holiday Destination in : The very name of vacation reminds me of . The beaches, the shacks, the care-free attitude of people who just forget what they are and be themselves is so nice to see.

Your Favorite Indian Cuisine: I love the Punjabi food my mom prepares. My mom makes the best Butter Chicken and Rajma, and they are my favorites.

Your Favorite Indian Attire: It is a black Pathani or Sherwani as it looks very Indian and somewhere goes very well with our tradition. I feel any Indian after wearing it can give a complex to the world (grins).

Your Favorite Indian Festival: I like four festivals in total. They are Diwali, Holi, Republic Day and Independence Day. It is because on these days, we get a reason to do something different. During Diwali, we meet our extended family and rejoice. On Holi too, we get together with so many people and enjoy playing with colors. On Independence Day and Republic Day, we forget our daily chores, and think of the nation.

Your Favorite Holiday Destination in : Well, I must tell you that Parul is very much like Ragini (laughs). I have not been to many places in . It was for the first time in my life that I got to go somewhere, and it was to for the Gold Awards. I basically love to see places, as I have not traveled at all. I am very excited over the fact that we will be shooting in Kerala for the honeymoon sequence in Bidaai (blushes)

Your Favorite Indian Cuisine: It has to be dal chawal.

Your Favorite Indian Attire: I love to wear sarees.

Ajay Choudhury:Your Favorite Indian Festival: For me the best festival is Independence Day as everyone celebrate it irrespective of caste and creed. It's not like other festivals wherein only one cast enjoys.

Your Favorite Holiday Destination in : My favorite holiday destination has to be my home. Whenever I get a break, I can think only of my home. That's the best place wherein you get free accommodation, free and unlimited food and loads of love and compliments (smiles)

Your Favorite Indian Cuisine: I like all Indian food, and feel full only with Indian food.

Roshni Chopra Your Favorite Indian Festival: It is none other than Diwali. The reason is that I was born on the day of Diwali and my dad was very happy. He lit up the lane with candles and burst lots of crackers. Alongside my name also means light, thus I like this fest more.

Your Favorite Holiday Destination in : It has to be . I have sweet memories from there. With that I love beaches and the music, food of is fabulous.

Your Favorite Indian Cuisine: Well I don't know whether it will come in Indian cuisine but I love to hog on paani puri. There was a time when I used to eat it five days in a week. I like spicy food.

Your Favorite Indian Attire: It has to be a sari, as I also go with the phrase that Women look good in Indian saris.
