It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me.
- Bruce Wayne (Batman Begins)
Perhaps, DC has taken this dialogue from Batman Begins way too seriously.
Fans have been surprised by their decision to swap caucasian originated Bruce Wayne to plot the genesis of an African-American caped crusader. Now that, Idris Elba is already the black Superman, there’s no telling that DC won’t stop itself from offering the cowl to a black Batman.
The rumours have milled that DC Comics is planning to introduce a new Caped Crusader in 2020, one who will embody the changing complexion of superheroes that has resulted in the fresh and exciting takes on familiar characters we’ve recently seen on both the big screen and in the pages of comic books, reports Yahoo Entertainment.
Even now, fans seem unhappy with Robert Pattinson as Batman and the rumours of black Batman managed to see the light of the day.
Several superhero films which include - Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse saw an alteration to the complexion, but there have been some mixed opinions about Batman's rumours!
Over recent development, fans have an ironic stand over the whole episode. Tim Barnes - a Brooklyn based comedian and writer, took to his twitter handle and shared a witty comment. He wrote: “Black Batman better prepare to get pulled over by the cops while rushing over to save them.''

However, the idea of casting a black Batman onscreen is still several years away. Meanwhile, fans have been waiting to see Pattinson putting on the utility belt for Matt Reeves’ Batman feature film franchise, due in theatres in 2021.
