We questioned her, while the film have already been released on OTT platform and the masses have the access to it overvarious devices, will satellite premiere help it reach to an even broader audience base?

she expressed,

"I hope so. Because when Darlings released we had a world premiere on Netflix and now we are having a world television premiere on Zee Cinema. This is amazing for me because when it was released earlier, I was getting calls not only from India but from the rest of the world and that was a very heartwarming and overwhelming experience because they liked it. So now when it comes out on Zee Cinema on 29th, I’m just hoping that people will watch and I hope that we can satisfy them too and they will like the film and enjoy it."

She further added,

"So I’m curious to see how it is perceived, because a film is perceived in so many different ways and everybody sees it in a different way. Some people look at it as a hardcore comedy, some as a mother-daughter relationship, some people have a husband-wife relationship and everybody comes out with their favourite characters. So you are always curious to see what people are taking out of your film and that is very interesting for me to see. Of course, overall you hope that people will like and enjoy it because you put your heart and soul into it. I’m just excited mostly."

Further we questioned, "Now that we have seen the audiences reception for a film like this, which actually highlights dark comedy along with a social issue, do you feel because of Darling, more such films would come and help to bring about a change?"

Talking about the same she said,

"I feel like the primary responsibility of a film is to engage and entertain. And if you’re talking about an issue, every film I feel represents society in some way or the other. This story I had in mind about a mother-daughter trying to fix the daughter’s marriage and they’re completely backed out. I wanted to talk about the mother-daughter relationship interestingly too, I wanted to talk about the husband-wife relationship too. And all this fell in place and I had a vision for it which people, yes, connected with. I feel like people also have been watching different kinds of films from all over the world since the last 3-4 years."

She further added,

"So I think they have also matured. And when Darlings came out, maybe they had explored some more before that. However, I always believe that people connect with the story and the characters and they connect with your film. So going in the future, if we can tell a story well, I think that’s all that matters."

Darlings was released digitally on Netflix on the 5th of August, 2022 and have been one of the top watched films of the year.
