Confirmed! Bhagam Bhag 2 has been officially announced, to go on sets next year

The wild, madcap world of the blockbuster comedy Bhagam Bhag is making a comeback. After 18 years since it captured audiences' hearts, the much-anticipated sequel, Bhagam Bhag 2, is finally in development.

For fans who have embraced the original film as a cult classic, particularly thanks to the influence of the Internet and social media, this news is a reason to celebrate.

Starring Akshay Kumar, Govinda, and Paresh Rawal, Bhagam Bhag remains one of director Priyadarshan’s most iconic films. Even in Akshay Kumar’s extensive filmography, Bhagam Bhag holds a special place alongside other landmark comedies like Hera Pheri and Welcome.

The rights to the sequel were recently acquired from Shemaroo Entertainment by Sarita Ashwin Varde of Roaring River Productions, who has also been working on the film's script. She will produce Bhagam Bhag 2 in collaboration with Shemaroo.

Why did it take so long for the sequel? “Because a special film like Bhagam Bhag deserves a sequel that’s just as much special; when the time was right, we decided to take the plunge,” says Sarita.

Sarita has long been a creative force in the industry, working alongside her husband, producer Ashwin Varde, who has contributed to successful films like Boss, Mubarakan, Kabir Singh, OMG-2, and Khel Khel Mein.

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with an amazing team to create a film that will continue the legacy of the original, bringing even more laughter, fun, and entertainment,” said Hiren Gada, CEO of Shemaroo Entertainment.

Currently in the final stages of scriptwriting, Bhagam Bhag 2 is scheduled to begin filming in mid-2025. While the makers promise that the sequel will be "madder, crazier, and funnier," further details will be revealed soon, as the official announcement draws near.
