Actress and comedian Bharti Singh has moved to Punjab and Haryana High Court to make an appeal for squashing a court case filed against her for hurting religious sentiments. For those who do not know, in December 2019 a case was filed against Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon, producer-director Farah Khan, and comedian Bharti Singh by Amritsar Police for allegedly hurting religious sentiments during a television Show. The three celebrities were booked on the basis of complaint by Sonu Jafar, President of Christian Fort in Ajnala. They were also summoned for questioning earlier this month.

On January 23, 2020, HC directed to not take any coercive steps till March 25th against Raveena and Farah for the said case. Now as per the latest update according to a leading portal, Bharti Singh has moved to the High Court requesting the honorable court to shut the alleged case against her. The petition for the same will be heard by Justice Sudip Ahluwalia on Monday, 27th January i.e. today.

In the petition, Bharti has sought relief from the court to quash the FIR and order a stay on the Punjab Police investigation. Bharti has submitted that she had committed an offence under IPC Section 295-A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings).

On the work front, Bharti Singh is in Dubai with entire The Kapil Sharma Show team for a live performance.
