Code Red - Simply outstanding!

Colors' crime based show Code Red, is a masterpiece when it comes to narrating and projecting real life crime stories.

Code Red

Mon to Sat at 10.30pm only on Colors

Produced & Directed by: Multiple production houses.

Cast: Saakshi Tanwar, Manish Chaudhari, Yash Sinha and various others

Show is about: It is based on real life crime stories dramatized for TV viewers. Every week, six episodes featuring stories based on various human weaknesses, are presented through three prominent themes under the brand umbrella of Code Red'. 1) Umeed - focuses on Suicide stories who are on the verge of ending their lives, 2) Awaaz - talks about violence against women and children and 3) Chakravyuh - sheds light on various forms of entrapment - physical and psychological.

1)    Umeed- This series feature stories of people who are convinced that ending their life is the only solution to their problems. The episodes delve into the psyche of these victims, investigate the reasons and show them the path to redeem themselves and their lives while bringing positivity in their outlook. A helpline operated by the Vandrevala Foundation empowers the victims to get back on the right track. The stories feature actor Manish Chaudhari as Dr. Prashant Bhaskar who fights against time to prevent disoriented souls from losing hope and their life.

2)    Awaaz- This series consists of stories of crimes against women and children. It gives us the reasons why crimes such as infanticide, murder, rape, abduction, foeticide and flesh trade among others, are committed. The show helps us to understand the psychological issues behind it like lack of education, upbringing or inferiority complex to name few. The stories will unfold through journalist Kabir played by Yash Sinha, as he investigates various crimes.

3)    Chakravyuh- Stories based under this theme are focused on entrapment - both physical and psychological. The episodes talk about the journeys of individuals who are entangled in a situation and their battle for survival. The stories are narrated from the first-hand perspective of a victim as he/she encounters and overcomes a trapped' situation.

What works: Dividing crime stories in 3 different categories like Suicide, Violence and Entrapment is, a unique idea which differentiate Code Red' from other crime shows. The casting is done appropriately. Conscious mind of the lead characters giving both negative and positive aspect of the situation also helps in understanding their point of view. Actors like Sakshi Tanwar, Manish Chaudhari and Yash Sinha do their role with utmost sincerity.

What not works: With Sakshi Tanwar as an anchor the show is bound to get compared with her earlier crime show Crime Patrol Dastak'. Also, the late night 10.30pm slot might affect the viewership to an extent.

Our take: There are various crime shows on small screen but what make Code Red' different from them, are the unusual stories. There are episodes where the stories take unexpected turn for the good which is not common in crime stories. It shows how simple decisions taken firmly can bring you out from the toughest situation. Though the show is about dark side of human nature it also helps in building self confidence and positive thinking in the end. It's worth a watch even if it is late night!

I think we glorify Oscars way too much. They have their own biases and agendas, ignoring many movies (like Filmfare awards) and many deserving recipients for their own favourites. There is a lot of campaigning that happens for the Oscars before hand, with people basically marketing or making movies to get the award.

Also it depends on your own judgment of what a good movie is. Just because a movie is all dark and mysterious doesn't make it good, more importantly it needs to entertain.

But more importantly, Hindi movies are vastly different from hollywood ones so comparing the awards is also not valid because there is such a different approach.

Indian awards and Oscars are two very different events. its futile to compare them. they're both well appreciated.

As much as I am not a fan of Abhi, I have to agree. Most Indian Award shows are highly political and the most deserving candidate usually doesn't get an award. The Oscars truly honours and brings to light actors and films who otherwise go un-noticed but bring something brilliant to the screen. Movies like Hugo, Pan's Labyrinth, The Hours, The Pianist were brilliant films! Recognition of actors like Adrien Brody and the work was really given to these films by the Oscars. In Indian Award ceremonies there is a lot of awarding blockbusters over small films. Recently yes, with the acknowledgement of films like Iqbal and Udaan we have seen a change. But honestly, there are many more like these that need the recognition, because they were just simply amazing films without big names and glitz and glam (unfortunately the movie industry really relies on glitz and glam.) Just my POV don't take offence.

Yes, he is so right, you should not compare. I am American, and I have watched many Indian awards shows. I must say though that unlike the Oscars, I actually stay A WAKE for the Indian awards!!! I was asleep as soon as Billy Crystal finished his...whatever that was he did. Don't compare Abhi, just be happy your shows are 100x better.

@kanchan.p: i agree with you in most parts.
i haven't seen rockstar so I can't give my opinions about it. To be honest, I did not find any film deserving of an award. I think films like Jodha Akhbar, Fashion, and 3 Idiots deserve awards because the story lines were well written, and everything in it felt real unlike most of the movies we're seeing now.
I am NOT saying that I didn't like any of the movies that came out, I actually saw probably most of the popular ones. I found most of these movies ENTERTAINING and not award-worthy.
I just feel like some of these films do not deserve an award.
Hopefully, this year is better :)

didn't mean to offend anyone, just speaking from my mind

Although he really isn't in the position to give his opinion on anything award-related without sounding bitter about never really winning a whole lot, I would have to agree.

Typically, awards aren't given out to the most deserving candidates in India. But everyone would have to admit that systems in India are corrupt, which sucks. To be honest, as much as I love SRK there have been times I've felt someone else was more deserving, same with the actresses. So many films are overrated.

This year however, I think Ranbir and Rockstar deserved what they got. But then again it sucks that its going to be much more difficult for someone like Ranveer Singh to win best actor than it has been for Ranbir Kapoor for obvious reasons.

This is just my opinion, don't wanna offend anyone.

ya true!prestigious oscars can't be compared to filmfare, iifa etc etc.coz to win an oscar,u have to be really deserving and work hard through out but for a film fare and the rest all u need is do a stage performance in the award function and there u get it.the same families and their off springs.holy crap.

Is this idiot for real, what a joke he is and the movie industry of India. It is one of the worst and the product coming out of BOLLYWOOD is crap and will never have any original ideas like Hollywood. The indian industry gives each other awards and are happy with it and same old family members with their siblings rule these so called award shows. What a bunch of hypocrites.
