Censor Board passes Radhika Apte's INTIMATE scene in 'Parched'

The Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has passes an intimate love making scene between Radhika Apte and Tannishtha Chatterjee in the film 'Parched'

The censor board is known to be very ruthless in cutting off scenes from films; especially if the scenes have any sex or violence in them. Recently the term homosexual was muted out of the film, Aligarh staring Manoj Bajpayee.

In a time like that Leena Yadav's Parched, has been an exception, as the CBFC has given a green signal to an intimate scene in the movie. The scene shows Tannishtha Chatterjee intimately caressing Radhika Apte.

Leena Yadav told a leading daily, "I'm indebted to the CBFC. When the board members saw my film, they told me that they didn't want to cut a single shot. If they had cut anything in the film, I don't think I'd have allowed the film to release in India. I'm very fortunate I guess."

When asked the chief of the censor board to comment on their decision he said, "I haven't personally seen the film. But the scene shows two brutalized and tormented women coming together. It's a moment that defines the emotional rather than the physical context of the two characters' friendship. There's nothing titillating or sensational in the scene."

"We allow scenes that are done sensitively. But we won't allow gratuitous sex and violence," he added.
