Cartoon Network has shut down permanently? Netizens mourn their loss

The iconic Cartoon Network building pic is also going viral. Fans are in shock on as to how a channel as popular and robust as CN can be shut down permanently. In India, people put up posts like, “End of an Era,” and “Thank You for childhood memories.” Here is why the hashtag of the end of Cartoon Network has gained momentum. 

The social media handle ‘Animation Workers Ignited’ posted a video that was titled, “Cartoon Network is dead?”. The post was about the poor condition of the animation industry in the West. It was on how many animation workers lost their jobs en masse, and there was immense financial instability. As per news, one Cartoon Network Studio has apparently shut down. It seems there are many animators who lost jobs after the pandemic and have been unemployed for close to two years. It seems the lockdown was a good phase as people in the field delivered great output working from home.  Post that, things have taken a bad turn. 

An excerpt from the video stated, “When COVID first hit, animation was able to operate completely remotely, making it one of the only forms of entertainment that could continue production uninterrupted. However, studios decided to repay this resilience by cutting costs, outsourcing jobs, and laying off artists en masse.”

It said that big studios have become greedier over time. They said the only way to show profits is to downsize staff. This also let them keep maximum earnings for the top brass. The handle urged fans to support animators by trending #RIPCartoonNetwork.
