We celebrate various days like Fathers day, Mothers day and Friendship day where we appreciate and thank our loved ones for being a part of our lives and for their contributions which help us live a better life.

Today, October 3 is National Boyfriend's Day. And just like we celebrate the many other days, why not a day for the boyfriends?

We've all secretly fantasised about dating people who are similar to our favourite fictional T.V characters. But sometimes, no matter how wonderful the character is, they end up making terrible boyfriends!

And it is not that they are bad, inadequate or substandard. They're just..well.. unsuitable! We have some legit reasons to say why our fictional TV characters completely fit into the category of bad boyfriends. Read on...

Shivay from Ishqbaaaz on Star Plus

We absolutely adore him for his wit, style, personality and his 'knok-jhok' filled chemistry with Anika. But if you were in Anika's place, would you ever give in to his ego drive? The show highlighted how being super proud of his 'Oberoi' surname, he flaunted an aggressive attitude. He also went on to make Anika feel inferior in terms of the background she came from apart from a lot of other shenanigans he still puts up in front of the lady who literally lives on the edge protecting her lover from his enemies in every possible way.

Abhi from Kumkum Bhagya on Zee TV

He might be tall, handsome, and oh so sexy rockstar, however, he is certainly not the man you would want to take home to your mother. To point out a few things, he is perpetually confused between his choice between Pragya and Tanu and that is probably because he does not have a mind of his own.

Advay Singh Raizada from 'Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?' on Star Plus

Advay Singh Raizada is a heartthrob. But we fail to understand why? It is true that Barun Sobti has a strong screen presence but the character he essays is outright annoying. He went on to trouble Chandani in the lamest possible ways like locking Chandani up with spiders, burnt the bangles on her hands, used magnet chappal soles to make sure she trips with a tray of hot steaming tea and invariably gets injured. If this was not enough for his ways of revenge, he went on to marry her. How would any woman keep up with this psychedelic trance he has been perpetually tripping on?!

Raman Bhalla from Yeh Hai Mohabbatein on Star Plus

Raman Bhalla might be a good family man but words often tend to leave a deeper scar than the knife with no scope of redemption. Raman often bottles up his guilt and the projection of displaced anger every single time is not something worth appreciation.

Shaurya from Zindagi Ki Mahek on Zee TV

Shaurya is an out an out obsessive lover who is very stubborn and dominating. Every partner needs space in his/her relationship and this is where the initial problems crop up about being in a relationship with a person like Shaurya. Also, his non-adjusting attitude acts like a cherry on the cake to absolutely annoy any girl. After all, it's a girlfriend's right to throw around weight! Right?

Uma Shankar from Tu Sooraj Mein Saanjh Piyaji on Star Plus

A male chauvanist, one can call Uma Shankar an out and out regressive person. He is very traditional-minded who thinks that being touched by women will get him contaminated. Infact, even after situations lead him to marry Kanak, he imposes his decisions and thought process on her like she does not deserve to have brains of her own. Why? because she is a woman.

Infact, if there was a girlfriend's day, all these ladies should get an award for putting up with (read loving) these weirdos!

Barun Sobti love your Adwa. Great image. You're the best actor!

Though I am a bit late, but this was a nice read. And indeed it was too true. It would be really difficult to deal with such characters in real life. How about having an article on who would make the best boyfriend/husband material from the current crop of male leads? It would also be a nice analysis.

Uma Shankar, portrayed by Avinesh Rekhi, is blindly believing in dharm, but he is a wonderful man. Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji is a story of his transformation trough his wife's love.
