Bon Appetit Your Majesty earlier known as The Tyrant’s Chef is enjoying huge ratings in South Korea. No one had high expectations from the show, which was earlier supposed to star Park Sung-Hoon and Yoona. The actress has a number of blockbusters in her repertoire like The K2, Big Mouth, Love Rain and the bumper hit King The Land with Lee Jun-Ho. The two are doing a fab job, and Bon Appetit Your Majesty is ruling the charts. Here are five reasons to watch the show…

Bon Appetit Your Majesty has all the elements of an old school K-drama. There is comedy, action, romance, drama and melodrama served in generous doses. We have a dashing hero and a resilient heroine in a unique premise. From the eye locks to comic moments, viewers are loving the show.

Lee Chae-Min delivers career best performance

Lee Chae-min said he was a huge fan of Yoona from her SNSD days. They say fanboys are at their best when they’re with their idols. Many believe Lee Chae-Min is doing his best performance-wise in Bon Appetit Your Majesty. The chemistry is superb between the two despite an age gap of almost ten years. He came on board for the show with just 10 days left for shooting. Seeing the character, he seems like a far better choice than the original Park Sung-Hoon. We have seen Lee Chae-Min in Crash Course In Romance, Alchemy Of Souls, Hereditary, Crushology 101.

In Bon Appetit Your Majesty, the chef (Jiyoung) finds a way into the cruel king’s heart through her food. The visuals of food laid on the table, and the cooking sessions are gorgeous. It is a delight for everyone who is into gastronomy. We have seen gripping medical dramas in OT rooms, BAYM is a culinary lover’s fever dream.

Yoona brings her A-Game on the table

Yoona’s acting skills were never rated highly by critics. Many felt that King The Land was carried by Lee Jun-Ho when it came to acting. Yoona is in top form in Bon Appetit Your Majesty. She looks like a pro in the chef scenes with minimum effort as if she’s indeed a part-time Michelin chef. She was fabulous even in the comic sequence in the first episode.

A visually gorgeous show

Viewers are in splits over the reaction to Yoona’s food as shown in the series. It is hilarious. The background music, cinematography, graphics increase the immersive experience of the show.

Now, people are keen to know how the story will continue after she returns to the current era.

TL;DR

When we talk of 2025, the only Korean dramas that have made a big impact are When Life Gives You Tangerines, Trauma Code: Heroes On Call, Buried Hearts and Head over Heels to some extent. Yoona and Lee Chae-Min's show is surprisingly doing really well. Here's why it has caught the imagination of people all over.
