Indian Television was certainly all about pleasantly surprising the viewers this year and we can say that a new benchmark has been set for other shows to surpass. Many shows this year gave us some memorable scenes to cherish and some of them specifically blew us over.
Even though we were spoilt for choices, the credentials we chose were impeccable acting, brilliant cinematography, exceptional writing, breathtaking music and engaging emotions as necessary parameters. Not all the below mentioned scenes have an amalgamation of all of the above, but these are the Top 5 scenes from Indian TV shows that left us in awe.
Naren's (Akshay Mhatre) nude scene in Piyaa Albela
Zee TV's Piyaa Albela has been rocking the rating charts in recent times, but that wasn't the case for the show when it was newly launched. And talk about breaking boundaries, the show already did the same when it was revealed that actor Akshay Mhatre aka Naren in Piyaa Albela went full monty for a scene. Yes! Not only was that scene performed with absolute finesse and amazing acting skills, but it was also extremely pivotal for the track of the show, where Pooja (Sheen Das) decides to save Naren from this trap he finds himself in.
Saanjh's (Aneri Vajani) grief on her father's death in Beyhadh
We may have to compile a separate feature on how Beyhadh was responsible for giving some of Indian television's best scenes of all time. But, after a lot of brainstorming, we decided that in a show where Jennifer Winget aka Maya completely stole the show multiple times, there was one instance where it was Aneri Vajani aka Saanjh, who gave a performance worthy of a standing ovation. When Saanjh learnt about her father's mysterious death, she couldn't help but hold her emotions. And one standalone episode was dedicated to Saanjh's complex emotions with extreme grief that made the performance one to remember. Aneri was specially applauded for this episode and we couldn't agree more.
Nakuul Mehta's (Shivaay) 14 and a half minute monologue in Ishqbaaaz
Another show, where we are certain that the fans will have an array of favourite scenes to choose from. Ishqbaaaz has had some dramatically explosive and well-performed scenes to look at. However, acing the act as a one-man show, Nakuul Mehta aka Shivaay's 14 and a half minute monologue was a scene that we feel deserves to be in the Top Scenes list. It is cinematically difficult to keep the viewer hooked on to the screen for 14 minutes, when you have just one man in the frame delivering dialogues and no other drama whatsoever. But not only was Nakuul's act absolutely fantastic, but also it was a love tribute to Anika (Surbhi Chandna) which made the viewers fall in love even more.
Parvati taking the avatar of Mahakali (Pooja Sharmaa) against Mahadev (Souabh Raaj Jain) in Mahakaali: Anth Hi Aarambh Hai
Mahakaali - Anth Hi Aarambh Hai marked the comeback of actress, Pooja Sharmaa back to the TV screen and boy it turned out to be a roaring one. The show has been consistently a rating grabber and when it comes to the best scene from the show, one can never forget the time Parvati took the avatar of Mahakali against Mahadev in the show. The famous story of how Vinayak became Lord Ganesh had the major twist of how Parvati couldn't believe that her own husband is responsible for their son's death. Thus deciding to finish Mahadev herself, Parvati adopts the avatar of Mahakali and began the showdown. The fable is etched in the memory of many, but when it comes to the picturisation of the same, there has been a few ones that has truly made the saga a riveter and this scene is one of them.
Ishita's (Divyanka Tripathi) pre-death sequence in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein
This track is literally being telecasted currently, where the whole hype around Ishita's death has been buzzing amongst the fans for a long time now. Even though, there are some preposterous moments in the scene and some bad acting by other performers, this scene makes it to the list purely on the basis of Divyanka's performance. We are certain that there would have been multiple shots of Ishita's close-up, where she plays a dead body, but every time when she appears on the screen, she has managed to maintain the same still posture throughout. Sometimes not emoting at all is the most difficult thing to do while acting and that is what Divyanka has been doing in the track with complete conviction.
As mentioned, there has been a barrage of shows and plenty of scenes to choose from, but the above 5 scenes qualified maximum of the mentioned factors.
