#BestOf2016: HEARTBREAKING scenes of the year!

They have made you laugh and go weak in your knees.. They have made you cringe and skip a heartbeat! Your favourite television characters have gotten you so engrossed and involved in the show that you start resonating their emotions.

After the faltu moments, Next in our 'BestOf2016' marathon, we have the most heartbreaking scenes that we saw this year. Of course, our opinion would definitely differ from yours, but we analyse them more technically.

Dev and Sonakshi's Break Up in Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi

One of the most loved jodis on Indian Television, Dev (Shaheer Sheikh) and Sonakshi (Erica Fernandes), shattered like a million hearts when they broke up! Devakshi fans were left stunned and heartbroken with this shocking turn of event. The couple parted their ways as Dev's mother Ishwari (Supriya Pilgaonkar) swallowed a whole lot of sleeping pills as she developed this feeling that her son did not need her anymore. Bizzare!

This led to a very dejected Dev blaming Sonakshi for his mother's ill health and breaking up with her while telling her that his mother's happiness is more important to him than his own. But we all know that it did not end well for Dev as he turned a drunkard after his break up.

Shivaay's behaviour towards Anika Post Marriage in Ishqbaaaz

Somewhere down the line, viewers knew that Anika (Surbhi Chandna) and Shivaay (Nakuul Mehta) would get hitched in Ishqbaaaz. but it was heartbreaking to watch how Shivaay forced Anika to marry him (He threatened to kill the only family that Anika had- her brother Sahil). If that was not heartbreaking enough to watch, the treatment meted out to Anika by Shivaay post their marriage was ridiculous. He first declares Tia as his wife, gifts Anika divorce papers, and leaves no stone unturned to show Anika down. I mean hey, you married her for your selfish reasons (to save your family's reputation), better treat her good. What was more heartbreaking was Anika's succumbing behaviour that was so completely out of character as she was not even fighting back with Shivaay like she always did.

Asha Ashish's Break Up In Naamkarann

This was one scene that purely qualified for the list just because of the performances of actors Barkha Bisht Sengupta who plays Asha and Viraf Phiroz Patel who plays Ashish in Naamkarann. A simple scene where a girl's dreams of marrying the father of her daughter and the love of her life are shattered simply because of religion and the boy's mother's orthodox mentality, made us bawl our eyes out. And why wouldn't, considering the fact that this scene was shot under the guidance of none other than the maestro Mahesh Bhatt .

Atharva and Vividha's Separation in Jaana Na Dil Se Door

Jaana Na Dil Se Door was completely an underdog show. With less familiar leads, the show surprised us with the place that it carved for itself in the audience's hearts inspire of having a very unconventional early evening time slot. The show has always grabbed the attention of everyone with the very creative twists and turns that wow and shock the audience at the same time. But the most heartbreaking twist that the makers introduced was the separation sequence of Atharv (Vikram Singh Chauhan) and Vividha (Shivani Surve). Vividha's father Kailash, plans the separation of Vividha and Atharv by plotting Atharv's death and getting Vividha married to Ravish (Shashank Vyas). But his plan backfires as Vividha gets to know about it.

Akshara's Death in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai

Star Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai' gave its viewers some phenomenal characters and heart touching moments! One of the most loved characters of the show was its lead lady Akshara played by Hina Khan. Hina Khan decided to bid adieu to the show that gave her all the recognition after an association of 8 long years. And as memorable as her journey has been, the makers decided to end her track even more memorably- by killing her. Akshara met with a very unfortunate death after getting hit by a speeding car and falling into a valley.

Tanu's Death in Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki

Kasam is another show where the audience was aware of the plot line, yet watched the show. Stellar performances by Ssharad Malhotra as Rishi and Kratika Sengar as Tanu, cast a spell on the audience like no else. The plot line that focuseson the unfulfilled love of Rishi, as cliched as the concept was, the audience could connect to the chemistry of Rishi and Tanu. And when Tanu took a bullet for Rishi and died in his arms, not before promising him that she would return, we couldn't help the tears coming out of our eyes.
