'Balika Vadhu' actor Satyajit Sharma on avoiding getting typecast

Currently, Balika Vadhu is running its second season which has also enabled a new chapter with actors Shivangi Joshi, Randeep Rai and Samridh Bawa coming in. But there is no show like the original as the legacy that the Colors show left is one to remember.

Just like other characters, the role of Basant Mahavir Singh was also hated to be loved and the baritone voice and towering personality of Satyajit Sharma, who played the character was the perfect blend indeed.

Interestingly, Sharma has played an array of roles in multiple TV shows but continues to be remembered for his Balika Vadhu role. Talking about it with ETimes TV, he said, "It is true that the character got stuck with me forever, and I am glad, too, because it was an iconic show that ran for a long time. It was obvious that it would be etched in my career graph forever. But, luckily, I never got typecast or was offered similar roles. My last show Yeh Hai Chahatein had an interesting character for me, and I enjoyed playing a negative role."

Currently, he is gearing up for his next in the form of a show called Sab Satrangi, a show based in Lucknow. He said, "I am happy that when I did Balika Vadhu, the story revolved around a village and it conveyed a social message. Similarly, Satrangi is also about a story based in Lucknow and cities and towns in India have many interesting stories to tell. TV shows have good content when they tell an interesting story. Over the past few years, I would not know if content has changed but we are definitely trying newer things and not following a set pattern. Satrangi is also a show that's not following a set pattern. I am sure viewers will connect with my role in it."
