Bad Newz box office collection day 1: Vicky Kaushal, Tripti Dimri movie opens at Rs 8.5 crore

Vicky Kaushal, Ammy Virk and Tripti Dimri seem to have a winner on their hands with Bad Newz. The comic caper film directed by Anand Tiwari is off to a great start at the box office. It has made Rs 8.62 crores on day one at domestic market. Bad Newz has done slightly more business than Uri: The Surgical Strike to become Vicky Kaushal’s biggest opener ever. While the reviews were mixed, the word-of-mouth for the film is quite positive. Youngsters are loving the vibe of the film. It has done excellent business in North India. Fans should note that Ammy Virk has an excellent fan base in Punjab and Delhi side. 

Way back in 2019, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani’s Good Newwz opened at the box office with Rs 17.56 crores. But then, the pre-pandemic market was totally different. Bad Newz has got a good start too. The song Tauba Tauba played a big role in creating buzz for the movie. It is a craze on reels. Vicky Kaushal seem to have hit the jackpot with good songs. Even Zara Hatke Zara Bachke had hit songs like Tere Vaaste and Phir Aur Kya Chahiye. 

In 2018, he got his first box office hit with Raazi. It made above Rs 8 crores on day one. Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal were stellar in the Meghana Gulzar film. He has also worked on Sam Bahadur with her. Vicky Kaushal was pitch perfect as late Colonel Sam Manekshaw. It is also a big win for Tripti Dimri. While movies like Bulbbul and Qala had established her as a talented performer, Animal made her a star. Tripti Dimri’s scenes with Ranbir Kapoor made her a draw with the masses. Even in Bad Newsz, she has done Janam a sultry song with Vicky Kaushal. The movie is expected to make Rs 34 crores over the weekend.
