Netflix released the much-awaited teaser of the final season of House Of Cards, where Robin Wright aka Claire Underwood becomes the one to take full charge following firing of Kevin Spacey from the final season, courtesy his sexual misconduct allegations.

While, I was anticipating a few people to not like the idea of Claire being the leading woman now; what I did not foresee, is the venomous backlash and hatred people exhibited on the teaser.

From 'I miss Kevin', to #NoHOCwithoutKevin and what not, various things went on to become a topic of discussion and debate on social media. I, for once, was infuriated by all of this.

No, not because I hate Kevin now following the sexual misconduct saga, but because of how restricted and pathetic we are for not even willing to give an opportunity to the makers of the show and Robin to exhibit their way of taking forward the story. And to top it, people are in fact, resorting to having a closed mind about it.

In light of this, here we discuss the several factors that this instance elevates and how it needs to be controlled-

Of course, House Of Cards will MISS Frank Underwood immensely

Come on, I am not an idiot to not realise that the show is never going to be the same without Kevin as Frank Underwood. The show became the mammoth success that it is today, owing to his absolute excellence of portrayal as the ruthless politician. I have been Kevin's fan for the longest time and have probably seen The Usual Suspects more times than I can count. Also, albeit difficult, I have learnt to distinguish between the art and the artist, where as angry as I am on Mr. Spacey and his real life shenanigans, I still respect his contribution to performing arts.

But, The Show Had Already Initiated a Change

However, it is not about Frank the character, or Kevin the man anymore. It is about House Of Cards and it is about the continuation of a saga which reaches its conclusion. Fortunately for the makers, we saw the absolute rise of Robin Wright aka Claire Underwood in the 5th season already. I still remember having conversations with some fellow viewers on how it is absolutely amazing that Claire has now become the centre of this brutality, where she started of as a mere support to Frank and his evil tactics.

Of course, if Kevin was still a part of the show, we would have seen Frank adopting further genius evil ways to battle Claire and even emerge successful in many of them.

But, now that he is not, and the last shot of Season 5 Episode 13 was Claire's close-up shot telling 'my turn' gives you the perfect lift for having a Robin Wright-led season after all.

The Biggest Concern Is The Plotline

Again, I understand many people's concern on how it would be absurd to just show that Frank died out of nowhere, especially after how he survived a gunshot in Season 4. But then again, how, just how can we judge and have our own assumption by being irked about something that we don't even know. How is Frank not going to be a part of the show will be revealed as and when the show goes live on Netflix and probably in the first few moments itself. So, rather than having a pre-conceived notion about 'it is stupid to just kill off Frank out of nowhere,' let's wait to know what happened and then pass a judgement. As a viewer, it would be great to have an open mind to think that, 'Okay, it may in fact be better, who knows!"

The Comparisons Seem To Be Forgotten

It seems, the people who are criticizing this idea have forgotten how they lent their support when the story about how Robin Wright is not paid equally as Kevin came out years ago! Many talked about equality, and how Robin is as instrumental in the show's success as Kevin is and so on. But, all that seems to fade, where we actually see Robin Wright becoming the face that runs the place. So much for equality after all, mates!

Not Asking Or Forcing You To LIKE It

Being as considerate as I can be, I am in no way asking or forcing you to like the new season when it comes. Art is relative. One day you like a show, the other day something comes on and you don't like it. That's fine. Totally!

But, what I fail to understand is that how, just how can we comment on the fact this is a bizzare concept and that 'it will not work' without even watching it! If you have been a fan of the show for all these years, as a viewer, the least you can do is, be patient enough to watch the first episode and then develop an opinion about it. You may love it or you may absolutely hate it! I or anyone would be totally fine with that. But, disrespecting a feature presentation or an artist merely on a glimpse is crossing the level of foolishness in every way.

So, all I ask or would expect, as an ardent House Of Cards viewer, is to give Robin Wright and the makers of House Of Cards a chance and not spill venom with presumptions!

Having said all of the above, I cannot wait to see Robin being in charge.

Even after reading all this, if you still think that "I am not watching House Of Cards, because there is no Kevin Spacey', it's fine. I couldn't have been more glad about it.

I sincerely hope that you enjoy Mr. Spacey's future projects. Oh wait! There aren't going to be any. Sorry! *Double Knock*

Ithink its difficult for viewers to accept massive change to their favorite show like this. Just look at indian soaps. We cant even take replacments of characters with other actors. Thata because we love the show we started to watch as it was and to all of a sudden change it all, its hars for fans to accept. The only times these changes work is when the show starts on the premise of kill offs and murders and mystery. Even then i know with Pretty little liars, we still were particular about not wanting our favs killed off. Its expected. Itll takr time. The writers knew this would happen and took a calculated risk to end the story properly. Albeit with less viewers. It is what it is.

Frankly i know nothing about hoc... so wish the woman luck. But you cant force someone to start liking a show no matter what the premise of change was.

since when do authorws being biased in their writing? clearly you are writing this as a protective fan.. but arent articles and reviews better from neutral perspective?
