As soon as he got the news that Athiya might deliver anytime, he returned to Mumbai to be with her. In a recently surfaced video, Rahul was spotted at Mumbai’s private airport, heading home. Dressed in a white t-shirt, blue trousers, matching sneakers, and a cap, the cricketer appeared in a hurry to reach his family.

Rahul’s absence from Delhi Capitals' first match against his former team, Lucknow Super Giants, was a big moment in the tournament. The match was held at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam, but Rahul had more important matters at hand. Delhi Capitals’ captain Axar Patel addressed the situation at a pre-match press conference. He stated, "I think we've got to know, and so, now we don't know if he is available or not." This hinted that the team was prepared for Rahul’s absence due to personal reasons.
