Renowned singer Arijit Singh found himself at the center of a storm of disappointment and backlash when it was revealed that he would be lending his voice to the remade version of the Pakistani hit song "Pasoori" for the upcoming film "Satyaprem Ki Katha." However, recent tweets allegedly from Arijit's unverified Twitter account shed light on his side of the story, revealing a charitable motive behind his decision.
In a series of tweets and screenshots that have since gone viral, Arijit explained that he had taken on the song in order to support a noble cause. According to the singer, he had struck a deal with the producers at T-Series, wherein they promised to provide annual funding for a school for underprivileged children. When a fan questioned his decision, Arijit responded, “The maker has promised me a yearly fund for a school for under privileged. That's more important. Thode gaali kha lenge."
The singer also touched upon the notion of propaganda within the music industry, stating, "We, as music lovers, don't want to see people bringing down an artist. Understand that this is all propaganda. The industry makes and breaks an artist as per their convenience. We fight because they want us to."
