April
1st, better known as April Fools' Day, is a celebration of pranks and
laughter. This is the day when people get to play jokes and hoaxes on
others without getting into much trouble. Joining in celebrating the day
we, at BollyCurry, bring you a few pranks played in Bollywood movies.
While pranks are usually seen as a laughing matter, in
Bodyguard
a prank is what makes the hero fall in love with the heroine. Kareena
Kapoor's character, Divya, is annoyed at her bodyguard, Lovely Singh,
played by
Salman Khan, as he follows her everywhere when she decides to
prank call him from a private number. With an intention to keep him
away, this prank call turns into a love affair when Lovely gradually
ends up falling for Divya who is acting as Chhaya, the girl on the other
side of phone.
The 2009 all-time blockbuster movie,
3 Idiots, had one of the most memorable pranks played in any Bollywood film. Chatur, who lacks knowledge in Hindi becomes a laughingstock when Rancho,
played by
Aamir Khan, changes the word "Chamatkar" to "Balatkar" in the
speech Chatur is supposed to give in front of the Minister of Education
and fellow students of the university.
Pranks are the basis of this love story showcased in
Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon.
Sanjana aka
Kareena Kapoor, an independent girl who lives on her own
terms is upset when her parents decide to get her married to a
businessman named Prem. Sanjana, with the help of her friends, tries to
play several pranks on Prem, portrayed by
Hrithik Roshan, in a hope to
make him leave. But these pranks come back to bite her as Prem makes her
the victim of his pranks when Sanjana's friends try to check if Prem
has a normal physique. This tale of pranks eventually makes them fall in
love making them inseparable.
In
Zameer -The Fire Within, Pooja, played by
Ameesha Patel, who is famous for playing pranks in college
ends up becoming a victim herself when
Ajay Devgn's character, Suraj,
pours a bowl of daal on her head as she is trying to convince him to eat
the chutney made out of rose petals.
Yet
another love story that starts with pranks and fun ends in love is the
story classic of Raj and Simran in the longest running movie
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
Shah Rukh Khan's portrayal Raj, a born prankster goes on a trip to
Europe where he meets Simran, played by
Kajol Devgn. Their journey that begins
with Raj playing pranks on Simran who is too tight, concludes in them
falling for each other at the end of their trip.
Pranks are a part of everyone's April Fool's, whether as a victim or the prankster. Share some of your stories with us! On this note, BollyCurry wishes everyone a very laughter filled April Fools' Day. Don't ever stop laughing!
