Social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as 'The Rebel Kid', recently became the centre of attention after her appearance on the controversial YouTube show India's Got Latent. The show sparked massive outrage online, especially after Ranveer Allahbadia, a co-panelist, made remarks that did not sit well with viewers. The controversy escalated so much that FIRs were filed against several people associated with the show, including Apoorva herself.
In an attempt to open up about her mental state and the backlash, Apoorva uploaded a vlog on her YouTube channel. She spoke emotionally about everything she went through after the controversy broke out. In the video’s description, she took a moment to thank the people who supported her during the difficult time. However, fans quickly noticed that one name was missing — her close friend and fellow influencer, Rida Tharana.
The absence of Rida’s name triggered online discussions and assumptions. Things heated up more when people saw that Apoorva had unfollowed Rida and a few others on Instagram. Trolls didn't waste time and started targeting Rida with harsh comments, claiming their friendship had ended.
To clear the air, Apoorva took to her Instagram story and wrote, “After my video there have been a lot of assumptions and a lot of hate going around and as much as I appreciate you guys having my back. This is the last thing that I wanted. I wanted to share my story and my feelings - nothing more. So let’s please not jump to conclusions or spread negativity.”

She followed it with another story featuring a happy picture with Rida, writing, “only love for @rida.tharanaa"

Rida, who had already shown her support for Apoorva during the controversy, had earlier posted, “Some people hate women simply for being women—for breathing, existing, loving themselves, and daring to grow.” Her message struck a chord with many and reminded people of the hate women face online every day. Amid heavy backlash and growing assumptions, Apoorva Mukhija chose to address the issue with maturity.
On the work front, Apoorva Mukhija was recently seen in the film Nadaaniyaa, where she shared screen space with Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor. Apoorva’s performance was appreciated by many, marking another step forward in her creative journey beyond social media influencing.
