Akshay Kumar has once again come under the scanner after a viral video from the upcoming film Kannappa led fans to accuse the actor of using a teleprompter to deliver his lines. In the scene, Akshay is seen portraying Lord Shiva in what was intended to be a spiritually intense moment. However, several online users claimed his constant side-to-side eye movement looked suspiciously like he was reading from a screen.
The backlash has been swift. A fan on X wrote, “Teleprompter Kumar. 40 din mein movie aise hi complete hoti hai.” Another disappointed viewer posted, “He was once among the most hardworking actors. Now he doesn’t even memorise his lines.”
This is not the first time such accusations have surfaced. During the promotions of Sarfira earlier this year, a similar clip had drawn criticism when viewers noticed him seemingly glancing off-camera while delivering dialogue. Akshay chose not to respond then, and so far, he has not issued any statement about the Kannappa video either.
https://x.com/ThunderPost_/status/1942840217565815167Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced by Vishnu Manchu, Kannappa is a Telugu mythological film inspired by the legendary devotee of Lord Shiva. The film boasts a star-studded cast including Prabhas, Mohanlal, and Kajal Aggarwal. Shot across scenic New Zealand, it promises visual grandeur and spiritual depth.
While the film continues to generate interest, Akshay’s alleged use of a teleprompter during mythological scenes has triggered a wider debate. Some viewers feel that such roles require not only performance skills but also deep emotional investment—something that gets diluted if an actor reads lines from a screen.
Despite the criticism, there are still those who defend the veteran actor. Supporters argue that his decades-long career, punctuality, and efficiency in wrapping up films deserve recognition. They point to his packed schedule and consistent output as justification, even if technology helps during performance.
With the film’s release still ahead, whether the controversy will impact Kannappa’s reception remains to be seen. For now, Akshay Kumar’s silence continues, while the internet remains divided on the use of teleprompters in cinema.
