Recently, Ayushmann Khurrana sparked controversy with his recent statement that same-sex marriages had been legalized in India, which is untrue. In 2018, the Supreme Court had decriminalized homosexuality, however, it did not legalize same-sex marriages. Many internet users called out the actor for his wrong statement. Netizens even took to social media to school him over the issue.
In a recent media interaction, the actor said that he feels proud that India has legalized same-sex marriages, and said, "We are really proud that we are supporting the community. Our country is very progressive that it legalised same-sex marriages."
After the massive backlash, Ayushmann put out an apology stating that it was a genuine slip. "A genuine slip here though I really wish same-sex marriages get legal in India (sic)” the actor wrote on Twitter.

Directed by Hitesh Kewalya, the film also stars Jitendra Kumar, who will play Ayushmann’s love interest in the film. Besides, Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta, Manurishi Chaddha, Sunita Rajwar, Pankhuri Awasthy, and Maanvi Gagroo will also be seen in the film.
Produced by Aanand L. Rai and Bhushan Kumar under their respective banners Colour Yellow Productions and T-Series, the film is scheduled to be released on 21 February 2020.
