Aditya Dhar, the acclaimed filmmaker behind the 2019 blockbuster "URI: The Surgical Strike," is currently immersed in promoting his latest venture as a producer, titled "Article 370." With Yami Gautam leading the cast, Aditya exudes confidence in the project's potential.
In a recent interview, he shed light on his unconventional casting approach and reminisced about the decision to cast Vicky Kaushal in the pivotal role for "URI," despite facing skepticism from industry insiders.
Speaking with India Today, Aditya Dhar delved into his distinctive anti-casting philosophy, wherein he defies industry norms while selecting actors for his films.
He recounted the initial doubts surrounding the choice of Vicky Kaushal for "URI," with many expressing reservations about entrusting such a significant role to an actor who hadn't headlined a commercial solo hero film before.
Despite the skepticism, both Aditya and producer Ronnie Screwvala remained steadfast in their decision. "Everybody went up to Ronnie at that point and said you are making a huge mistake," Aditya revealed. "Our belief at the end of the day was that we are all working towards something extraordinary," he added, emphasizing their unwavering determination to prove their critics wrong. Aditya emphasized that their collective effort and dedication were instrumental in overcoming the initial doubts and delivering a successful film.
As for his upcoming project, "Article 370," Aditya Dhar, alongside Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar, is gearing up for its release on February 23rd. The film explores the controversial abolishment of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir by the central government, citing reasons related to terrorism and corruption.
