Two 13 year old boys - Aravind Nair from Cochin and Ridham Kalyan from Amritsar may seem as different as chalk and cheese at first glance - hailing from different regions, speaking different languages and with little or no understanding of each other's backgrounds have managed to strike a bond.
Not well-versed with hindi, Aravind is a proficient classical singer who is well-versed with rock music as well. When our mahaguru - Alka Yagnik, heard him for the first time on stage, she loved his voice but advised him to learn hindi in order to ensure that his pronunciations get better. Having understood what is required of him, Aravind turned to his co-contestants for help and immediately gelled well with Ridham. The Punjabi puttar is now not just teaching him Hindi but is also teaching him a lot of Punjabi.
This week, when Aravind got onto the stage to sing his song, before singing, he greeted the mahaguru and captains in Punjabi. Surprised with his learning speed, mahaguru asked him what makes his and Ridham's friendship so special, to which Aravind said, "The two of us don't understand each other's language, but we have become such good friends now that we have learnt to communicate our way. While he teaches me Hindi and Punjabi, I teach him English and lots of rock music. He helps me clear my hindi pronunciations and while the two of us are great friends, we are also each other's greatest critics and give each other honest feedback about each other's performances."
Just one week into the competition and the kids seem to be finding their comfort zone on the show. The camaraderie displayed by the duo on the sets is particularly heartwarming!
