5 Shows Indian TV Should NEVER adapt!
There are shows we just aren't ready for...

Indian TV has gone through a plethora of changes. Over time, we have seen everything (and we mean everything) from shape-shifters to alarmingly dysfunctional families. Between developing narrative and more daring scenes, it is difficult to overlook the fact that TV has evolved. However, there still are a bunch of shows we can never imagine on an Indian broadcasting channel. We are factoring in viewership choices and plain capacity to create to put together a list of shows that our industry should steer clear off.
In short, here are the shows we aren't ready to develop and showcase-
The Walking Dead
Starting off, anything that involves this much gore will require prosthetic techniques and VFX which aren't TV's best investments. Judging from the recent portrayal of the un-dead (Namik Paul in Ek Deewaana Tha) and many obscure episodes of Aahat, it is safe to say that we don't excel at dishing out the ingredients necessary for a dystopian drama like The Walking Dead. The show went on to be quite a hit and its best if Indian TV didn't try anything along these lines.
Big Little Lies
Big Little Lies not only had some of the best female actresses Hollywood had to offer but also had a sensitive subject at it's core. The thriller is both dark and brilliant. As to why this would never be recreated or appreciated on Indian TV, we know for the fact that our audiences don't want to watch a show about a serious topic, especially if it is a serious topic about women. It all boils down to- we just don't want to see complex female characters battling with a gendered experience. Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Shaileen Woodley are just too good to be mirrored. We shouldn't try something like that just yet!
Saturday Night Live
SNL is one of the best (sometimes underrated) American shows. In the genre of comedy, the show has made amazing progress through the years. The long-running show has some of the funniest celebrities and famous personalities making appearances. It's hard to argue that a show run on hilarious actors and writers will not make it to the top tier. Another thing that SNL has is humour we cannot digest. From political jokes to openly calling out racial/gender biases, the show has a bunch of serious content. Makers in our TV industry would never put out an outright political statement even if it is for a joke. Remember: Our comedians wind up in jail sometimes.
The Simpsons
The Simpsons became iconic as an animated series. It has some of the smartest plots that revolve around the home and society. We don't have toons gaining popularity on our screens. And, this show isn't for children at all. While we had animated shows like Tenali Rama that did pretty well, something like this wouldn't sit right with viewers. Our producers wouldn't be thrilled with making shows typecast as "cartoons" either. It is important to note that in Hollywood shows like this run on the same channel as live-action shows. Do you see this playing right after Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai anytime soon?
Westworld
It is needless to say that when Westworld came out, it was termed as "the future". The sci-fi/thriller show changed the way we look at the genre. Indian TV industry is far behind and rather ill-equipped to produce content like this. We barely have any record of sci-fi shows making it big. It will be a while before we see something like this, in the meanwhile, we should stick to shape-shifters.
While we have had Vampire Diaries turn into Pyaar Kii Yeh Ek Kahaani, more adaptations should be avoided. We just don't see biggies like Ekta Kapoor backing up anything on our list. Do you agree with our list? What kind of shows would you like to see Indian channels try. Let us know in the comments below-

SNL is overrated. The jokes and so-called comedy in it are often incredibly cringey and cheesy.

Namik Paul pulled off the look amazingly and excelled in whatever he had to do as a ghost, but the script wasnt at all good, did not do him any justice!

hindi serials should never even think of remaking foreign shows. they are incapable of handling a bold and sensitive issue.
