There are instances when an upcoming show generates a buzz so impactful that it catapults the show's success. We have seen such an example in the recent history, where the show, 'Naagin' had a decent buzz before it was set to be launched. The anticipation in viewers resulted in immense success for the makers and the show became the highest TRP-fetcher.
Star Plus recently bid adieu to a critically acclaimed
sitcom, 'Sumit Sambhal Lega' and is now set to launch a new show, 'Tamanna'.
The show has managed to create a good buzz and is set to air its first episode today.
We list the five prime reasons why are we excited about the show.
The concept of the show is its biggest USP, where it depicts the struggles of a girl who aspires to become a cricketer, with the hope of making it big. However, she faces two obvious hurdles in life- family and societal pressures of getting married and cricketer not being 'the' preferred profession for females. The novelty of the concept makes it interesting and getting a fresh face to play the protagonist is a great idea.
Stellar supporting cast
The protagonist may be a fresh face (Anuja Sathe), but the supporting cast of the show is certainly an alluring line-up. Seasoned veteran actors like Ketki Dave, Harsh Chayya and Kiran Karmarkar lead the supporting cast making it one of the prime reasons to look forward to it. Where Ketki Dave makes a comeback when it comes to acting in Hindi shows, an actor like Harsh Chhaya, who does limited work on television makes us sure of nothing but excellence by choosing to work in this series.
The makers of the show
Not many would know but the show is a presentation of legendary character actor-producer-director Ramesh Deo (remember Kaul saab from the film, 'Jolly LLB'). The legend chooses to present us this series under his production company, Ramesh Deo Productions. And the person who is helming the director's hat is none other than his talented son, Abhinay Deo (the director of the film, 'Delhi Belly' and the Indian version of '24'). When such talent comes together to present a series, it surely promises a great show to watch out for!
It's a finite series
This format is widely accepted throughout the world. However, when it comes to Indian television, it was always considered a major risk, courtesy the long running shows like 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' and 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki' in the past which ran for over eight years. Fortunately, television in India has evolved immensely over the years and the concept of finite series has finally started to gain importance. Shows like 'Naa Bole Tum Naa Maine Kuch Kaha', 'Sadda Haq' and many more adapted this style in the recent history and were quite successful.
Cricket being the sport in focus
We live in a country where cricket is a religion, literally! The sport enjoys total monopoly in terms of acceptance, popularity and following. Taking up any other sport as its central plot would have been a gamble, but this sport almost guarantees interest and anticipation. To aid the centre plot is the idea of a female aspiring to be a cricketer, where women's cricket is gradually rising in popularity.
People have started knowing about names like Anju Bobby George and Mithali Raj! The series is set to air its first episode tonight at 10 pm on Star Plus. Are you excited about this show? Leave in your comments below!
