Bidaai (Star Plus) might be set for an exciting twist but what's even more interesting is that in real life, Angad Hasija, who plays Alekh, is telling everyone that he plans to marry soon. There's only one problem: he doesn't have a bride…though he does have a lot of specifications.
HE says, "Like everyone, even I have dreamt of the girl I would like in my life. She should be simple, understanding and sweet. The most important thing is that she should mingle with my family and respect them. I agree that nobody is born perfect but I would still like my girl to possess these qualities. She should treat my parents just like hers; there should be that bond between them."
And culture is everything to the Punjab da puttar, who says, "She should obviously be Punjabi! It's very important to maintain the Punju bonding. And it will make a big difference as then she will adjust very easily."
Angad adds more parameters for his ideal woman, saying, "I don't want an aunty who just stays at home and is a housewife. If she wants to work, I would support her. She should be bold, but the right type of bold."
He also doesn't want someone from the acting field, adding, "She should definitely not be from the same field because then we will both be busy shooting and will have no time to spend with each other."
Surprisingly, Angad does not plan to undertake this tough task of tracking down his ideal girl himself. Instead, he's going to get his parents to do it for him. He says, "I believe that this decision of marriage is a very important one and should include parental consent. Jab humare parents jinhone humara bachpan se khayaal rakha hai aur humare liye sab kuch sacrifice kar sakte hain, tab humein bhi ye decision unse poochke lena chahiye. Our parents should choose a girl for us and then we should get engaged."
He also adds a sensible bit of advice to those like him, who are choosing arranged marriages, saying, "There should be a very long period between the engagement and the marriage so that the couple has time to understand each other."
While on the topic of marriage, we asked the actor to define love. He obliged, saying, "Love is the most important and one of the biggest things in my life. In my life, love holds great importance. It will be difficult for me to define love in one or two sentences as it is a very special thing for me."
Hasija signs off saying, "My parents are after me to get married now so I will very soon."
