Barnali di, it's good to know that dshe did that but may be it was too late by taht time and as I said many times not all the times. Sometimes it's not your fault at all. I don't know much details that's why I said I am saying in general & not related to Waheeda ji. I am sorry barnali di, if I hurted anyones feelings related to Waheeda ji unknowingly. My comments were just as a general person.

Jst a little point. because Guru dutt had a family waheedaji later drifted away frm him. tht was one of the main reasons fr her going away frm the Guru Dutt group and sign her first movie outside him "Bees Saal Baad" wth Hemantada and BNNag. she knw by tht time tht this relationship was somethng tht may never materialise and so she choose the seperate path.

Waheeda comes across as a very sensible person in her interviews. I heard one on radio last year. I loved her Urdu.

There are so many stories about her. One is that Vijay Anand proposed to her during making of "Guide". But she would marry him only if he changed his religion which he was not prepared to do. So they did not marry.

I feel that even Sunil Dutt was attracted to her, but I might be mistaken.

Thanks Barnali di for sharing the exclusive information!
I think in the same line as Sahana - i would like to know more about the artist Waheeda!

She isone of the few actresses in Indian movie industry - who is actually able to... well...act!! Not just another showpiece.

I fallen in love with her for 2 movies - one is obviously Guide and another is Abhijaan by Satyajit Ray! 😳

Well mystique in her personality is just the icing on the top - makes her so irresistible! 😛

BTW: it was a treat to see her in 15th Park Avenue after a long time!

Sunil Dutt and Waheeda Rehman made an excellent couple in movies. I loved "Ek Phool Chaar Kaante", "Mujhe Jeene Do" and "Reshma aur Shera" in that order. "Ek Phool.." is a hilarious comedy which is really well-executed. There are no villains, only funny situations. "Mujhe Jeene Do" is just the opposite, quite serious and thought provoking. 'Reshma aur Shera' is the 1st movie in which I saw Rajasthan and fell in love with it. The images in this movie such as the "mela" in the desert, the song "tu chanda main chaandni" and other sequences are a treat to watch, though the storyline is weak.

Mujhe jeene do is one of my fav movies of her. it has the song wth a dance number by Waheedaji "Raat bhi hai kuch bheegi bheegi, din bhi hai kuch madham madham........chham chham chham chham......" wow i luv tht song and also the dance by her. it;s a slow number bt excellent one.

The song tu chand main chandni is i feel the bst number of reshma aur shera. even the lyrics r gr8. i dnt remember whose kyrics thy r bt they r jst fantastic.

tu chanda mein chaandani, tu taruvar mein shaakh re,
tu baadal mein bijuri, tu panchhi mein paat re.

na sarovar, na baawadi, na koi thandi chaaon,
na koyal, na papeehara, aisa mera gaaon re,
kahan bujhe tan kee tapan, o saiyan sirmol,
chandra-kiran to chhod kar, jaye kahan chakor,
jaag uthee hai saanvare, meri kuaari pyaas re,
(piya) angaare bhi lagane lage aaj mujhe madhumas re

tujhe aanchal main rakhoongi o saanvare,
kaali alkon se baandhoongi yeh paaon re,
jal baiyaan voh daloon ki chhote nahin,
mera sapna sajan ab toote nahin,
mehndi rachi hatheliyaan, mere kaajar-vaare nain re,
(piya) pal pal tujhe pukaarte, ho ho kar bechain re

o mere saavan sajan, o mere sindoor,
saajan sang sajani bani, mausam sang mayoor,
chaar pahar kee chaandani, mere sang bita,
apne haathon se piya mujhe laal chunar udha,
kesariya dharti lage, ambar laalam-laal re,
ang laga kar sahiba re, kar de mujhe nihaal re

oh yes, thanks for the lyrics Barnali. The words are quite bold, I must say and I am surprised that this was allowed by the censor board!
