Lets see this.
What makes this track worthy of a modern cult status?
First, the tune. Despite his recent downfall, ARR is known for out of the box musical scores. Saathiya is no doubt one of his best works in recent times. Though the overall score is not what exactly what you call a superhit unlike his earlier works, most of the songs are great nonetheless.
At the start, the change of voice is immediately noticeable. Obviously, situation demands it, and ARR wanted to give it a hint of western pop at the beginning targeting the urban youth. It works perfectly. The best part of the track is the added rap and the way he sings in one perfect breath, is just commendable for a first timer. Awesome.
Now lets go further. Kunal gets into his original voice but again makes different variations and this requires control of mid range sur and immense concentration on using your vocal cord, which is the backbone of this track. Its not easy, really not easy to sing a track like this, especially when the tunes are fast and rhythmic.
Adding to the superb voice modulation is the catchy tempos played. Adds more spice and increases listening pleasure. It can get addictive if you turn on more bass quotient. The lyrics can get repeteative (not really a good thing but can be forgiven) but he overall effort especially towards the end, is just commendable.
Experimentation has always been ARR's forte and this works perfectly to enlighten any mood you are. A good, clean modern and a refreshing track with understated simplicity.
Perfect 10/10.👏
