Note:

This was Kunal's 1st Bollywood song. And a big hit as well. So perfectly suitable for this round!

I would like to say this was probably a hit because of the peppy and attractive track. I mean, Kunal Ganjawala is a much better singer than was shown here, his singing does not do justice at all to the talents instilled in him. When he starts, you are immediately treated to a hoarse voice, which is not typical of Kunal ji or doesn't suit his voice at all, he didn't need to change it. His voice does turn less hoarse later on, but he rarely has any role in the song, with the track taking up majority of the song. I'd give him a 7!

Lets see this.
What makes this track worthy of a modern cult status?

First, the tune. Despite his recent downfall, ARR is known for out of the box musical scores. Saathiya is no doubt one of his best works in recent times. Though the overall score is not what exactly what you call a superhit unlike his earlier works, most of the songs are great nonetheless.
At the start, the change of voice is immediately noticeable. Obviously, situation demands it, and ARR wanted to give it a hint of western pop at the beginning targeting the urban youth. It works perfectly. The best part of the track is the added rap and the way he sings in one perfect breath, is just commendable for a first timer. Awesome.

Now lets go further. Kunal gets into his original voice but again makes different variations and this requires control of mid range sur and immense concentration on using your vocal cord, which is the backbone of this track. Its not easy, really not easy to sing a track like this, especially when the tunes are fast and rhythmic.

Adding to the superb voice modulation is the catchy tempos played. Adds more spice and increases listening pleasure. It can get addictive if you turn on more bass quotient. The lyrics can get repeteative (not really a good thing but can be forgiven) but he overall effort especially towards the end, is just commendable.

Experimentation has always been ARR's forte and this works perfectly to enlighten any mood you are. A good, clean modern and a refreshing track with understated simplicity.

Perfect 10/10.👏

For me Shaan was the show stealer of this song. Kunal didn't have much lines to sing. Plus the use of technology is always a put off.

Excellent singing!

Kunal I think has been one of the most underrated singer in the past decade or so. His singing was very good in this song. He shows some of his great singing talent in this song. I think he brings exactly the type of singing required for this song. And I liked his higher portions in Nange paaon jaa, aayega. That was well done.

Talent-wise, I think very few singers can compete with Kunal Ganjawala. And this was a nice debut to show that. It felt like he had great command with his voice throughout the song. Nonetheless, this was still early in his career, and he still hadn't shown his full talent. He can do even more wonders with his voice.

Overall, this was great singing. But I'm at like 8.5, but I'll go down to 8 because of his limited singing lines.

Rating: 8/10

O Hum Dum.. A track whose music would immediately make your feet tap to it.. Another fantastic song from ARR, which was on everybody's lips..

The song is more dominated by KK and Shaan. Kunal's voice is hampered by the grace of technology. The rock feel added by Kunal with 'Hum Dum' is something only he can do with his unique tone.. Expressions are apt according to the feel of the song, perfectly suited to the situation in the movie.. Overall, its an okay performance for me..

I would give a 7 out of 10 to this performance..
