I dont know how long this hype would remain so since our system is inured to brush off such issues after initial blast ...

Talking about journalism, havent followed any journalist in particular ...besides being excellent speakers/ command over language, there are many who have faced the wrath of some or the other section of the political class, let alone general public ...Barka dutt despite being a known name isnt blotch free either ...she had her share of troubles in public eyes ...not to mention Rajdeep Sardesia and even Sangrika Ghosh ...

Media is as corrupt as the politicians. The high demands, deadlines, the smell of power and free booze make some journalists often cross the line.

The media does not reports about its own wrong-doings and there are a number of editors and senior journalists who are complete perverts.

I used to follow a blog that used to post the dark side of the media and of the people working for it. I don't think it exists now. It posted colourful incidents of the well-known journalists.

Apart from being corrupted, perverts, they often have their own agenda in supporting, hyping covering most issues and often though required to be unbiased in matters while reporting is not necessarily so

but as of now they are probably the only hope to ensure that things are not swept under the rag

Ami: They do that. They have their own agenda and ideologies to push. The Hindu is left leaning newspapers and there were reports that Siddhartha Vandarajan, the ex-editor, had directed no publishing of Modi related news on the front page. Though The Hindu's family matter resolution was also one of the causes of his removal.

Most of the Ads are Government ads, major source of revenue to run a paper or news channels. Thus, most of the time, they don't make the ruling party or the government accountable.

I guess a lot is at stake because Tarun Tejpal is Tehelka and if he goes down, the magazine also suffers, immensely. I believe that is what is making Shoma so cranky and absurd.
