I saw a superiority complex that was not overt in the people's treatment of him. They avoided him and acted superior (Pritiusha dismissed his opinion, good Salman spoke up) when they are clearly far down the career ladder from him. You don't have to say anti-national things for an audience to pick up on that.

Shipa faced racism, true. Asif did not, that's why I DID NOT say it was racism. They are of the same race. He faced language bullying and derogatory treatment on the basis of his nationality. It is because of his country different that he is bad in Hindi, right? That's what makes it offensive to Bangladeshis. Let's face it, he stood out to us and Bangladeshis for being the first Bangladeshi on the show. That's why the label comes up.

Why should Salman not count? He was so patiently making her repeat in Hindi. If he tried the same with Asif who also does not know Hindi, that would have been fair. Same treatment of different foreigners. Otherwise, it is just preference? No, what did he do? When Asif sang badly, he rolled around on the floor. When Asif spoke outside, he crawled. Do you see what I am getting at? It's immature no matter how many time or with whom he does it. The only time he redeemed himself is when he spoke against Pritiusha. At the very end, Salman sobered up to be who he really is - a good person. Of all the people, it is appalling that his treatment stands out as the nicest still.

@underlined- I dont think it was due to his nationality. His hindi is bad..but then that can be with other indian inmates too ...Indians down south or even some bengalis may find trouble in speaking hindi too.. Yes these people were wrong in making fun of Asif's hindi ...but as I said above - similar case could have happened to Elli too... remember once Kamya said something which made her cry..kamya was also imitating her... it could have happened to some other inmate too..well they make fun of sangram too who is not that good in english... whenever he sings english song...this was mockery indeed...but it was surely not based on his different origin or nationality...

ur defending Bangladesh n saying its a good country. of course it is and noone has said its not.
so, i genuinely do not understand the point in mentioning this in ur post if ur not implying racism against asif.
i honestly do not want to create any fight and i respect ur POV and i'm just stating mine.

You are scratching the surface. That's the problem.

You are free to disagree. Two viewers need not think the same. I saw plenty of comments all over once I searched yesterday (even on news) that kept calling out his nationality. Someone even told Candice that she was aiming low by falling in love with a Bangladeshi. I was addressing people like that too. That thinking is definitely present in a lot of people's minds and especially, as I read it, in the inmates minds too.

lol that's what i have been trying to get at since page 1.

anyone who looks at post 1 objectively will see that an attempt was made to stroke nationalism. the reason i say its vicious is because her entire premise that asif was discriminated against because of the india vs bangladesh / "lesser country" thing. she is bigging up bangladesh which is all well and good but the what are you trying to prove ? housemates never invoked an india vs bangladesh issue so your point is MOOT. then the OP goes around liking a bunch of posts that say it is racism, or suggest that there was bullying based on nationality/creed.

it is also funny how she thinks i am a nationalist/prejudiced when she goes around liking posts like this that are steeped in nationalism:

People are passing off a lie, an unfounded claim as a fact and castigating india/indians day in and day out on this forum so why shouldn't I react to it ?

Silverbug honey, I liked just about every post on this discussion. Everyone, except some of your instigating comments. Why? Because people spent the time to respond to my OP. I like every post because I thank them for their time. Somehow I only managed to instigate your nationalism with my post liked by 100 people. If I was trying nationalism, I clearly did not manage. You are hilarious🤣

@silverbug- I accidently liked your post ..but I do disagree in some respect.I dont think TM had any intention of belittling any nationality or what so ever..She was giving her opinion on basis of what she read...and felt...
I do disagree with her..but respect her POV and what she felt.

i am a bangladeshi and for few months i had to stay in india. i am pretty fluent in english and can also talk in hindi but obviusly not dat good...the problems were gender related words in hindi which we dont have...and as pakistanis talk in urdu..we bangladeshis have no relation with hindi or urdu...and also our movie theaters never show any hindi movies... so basically we r weak in hindi...but i wud want to add that my frds were so nice..they never made fun of me...except sometimes when i also joined them...and i noticed some Indians have this weird accent that can b termed as indian english...i hav seen ppl in bigg boss talking in that accent...and seriously it is very normal to have their own accent in the language...
but the way these inmates thought they r superior...i was shocked... Asif was bullied over and over... and i dont think they have any idea what they r doing...because these housemates do not have that knowledge or education to behave legitimately ...and i respect Asif to behave decently...while he has one of the highest degrees and is a supermodel where gauhar herself is not a big name as him in the fashion world...
i would like to invite these petty actors and vjs to my country..and c the importance of my language over here as we fought for our language...along wid my civilised indian frds...but thn again may b its not worth it...
we may b a poorer country...but we live and stand with self esteem... nd im really proud of Asif he never went confronting these ppl as the knowledge they need to understand him is lacking...

i think many indians loved him for his honesty...even if he was from another country...hats off to those Indians and all other worldwide viewers who loved him.. we will never misunderstand India for these 10 ppl's behavior.

one sentence for Asif..i dont think these dirt will ever affect him...as his life is far beyond these petty issues!

Those terms aren't really all that different in the context we are talking about anyway.Baal ki khaal maat nikalo. Even though it is a bit funny how on one had she says that she is not implying this racism allegation but then she has liked a bunch of posts in this thread that say it was racism (case in point DarkestMysstery's post on the 2nd page)

Regardless, the whole premise of OP's argument is that Asif's mistreatment was a case of discrimination based on Asif's nationality and how they have this whole attitude going , which is apparently very prevalent in TV/Bollywood , that he comes from a 'lesser country'. What I'm saying is that this claim that Asif was mistreated based on his nationality is utter bullshit and based on nothing more than hearsay and assumptions.

I'm not 'hyper offended' over anything. I wouldn't be giving you the incidences of racism in India if I was offended by the racism in India. I'm just expressing my disapproval over the false statements that OP has made.

I wasn't going to reply.. But seriously, if you don't know the definition of racism, discrimination and enthocentrism what the hell are you doing going on and on in this discussion?? Especially since your whole stand was for RACISM.. Now that I said it was never about that, you choose to say they mean the same thing, can be used interchangeably and you didn't use the right words...

Seriously, we can all see how you've got offended and hyper... But that comment made everything you've said sound irrelevant because you were going on and on and on and on and on about racism...

And seriously, if you said that to a teacher or professor that racism, discrimination and enthocentrism all basically are not different and can be used interchangeably , I assure you that you would never graduate high school at least here... If you didn't understand the post and don't know the meaning of things, you probably took the whole topic wrong and made it into a battle field which wasn't required... And from your replies, it is evident that you are getting offended, hyper, and annoyed...

Now seriously, goodnight.
