Ever since the launch of its motion poster, Hrithik Roshan's Krrish 3 has rapidly advanced along the digital marketing route and it now boasts a biggie on its bandwagon, Apple Inc.
Tech giant Apple Inc has signed up with the film-makers - a first-of-its-kind tie-up for Bollywood and now the content - including music, video and apps - of the movie will be available on their online store, iTunes.
Incidentally, the trailer of Krrish 3 - that also stars Priyanka Chopra, Vivek Oberoi and Kangana Ranaut - has apparently registered 17 million hits till date. Krrish 3 releases November 1.
It's Diwali and the biggest film of the year - Rakesh Roshan's Krrish 3 - is all set to hit screens in less than a week. Expectations are sky high and rightly so, because the father-son jodi of Hrithik and Rakesh Roshan have never failed. We are not even talking about small hits here, each film of theirs has shattered every box office record in sight.
A quick look at some of their films together..
More than 7 years later, the duo return with their most-ambitious film to date. Krrish 3 made on a budget of 90 crore, with print and marketing likely to add up to 25 crore, taking the total cost of the film to around 115 crore.
Economics: A huge chunk of their investment has already been recovered. The satellite rights were pre-sold for Rs 40 crore, music rights fetched around 10 crore and Rakesh Roshan also sold theatrical rights to individual distributors before the film went on floors. For Krrish 3 to be a decent success and ensure that the distributors don't end up in the red, the film has to collect around 120 crore at the domestic box office
Screens: Krrish 3 will have the widest release for an Indian film ever. The expected screen count including regional versions is around 4100. Although this could change as some screens get finalised as late as the Wednesday before release.
Runtime: The film has been passed with a U' certificate. The runtime is exactly 2 hours 33 minutes, so the turnaround time (between two shows) at multiplexes will be around 3 hours. The runtime is just about right, not as long as Agneepath (2 hours 54 minutes) and not too short as single-screens audience don't consider films that are less than 2 hours to be paisa-vasool'. Exhibitors can easily screen 5 shows a day, a few theatres that start early could squeeze in 6 shows a day per screen.
Records: For opening day and weekend records, timing of release and luck are huge factors. Unfortunately, Krrish 3 isn't getting the best of dates. Opening day is not a national holiday and the film is releasing during the pre-Diwali period. Sunday is Diwali puja, which has a huge impact on collections. While the film has an outside chance of breaking the opening day record, 3-day weekend records (currently held by Chennai Express) are likely to be out of reach. Even in the worst case scenario, Krrish 3 should cross the 100 crore mark, but as we have seen with films like Besharam, box office is and always has been highly unpredictable. If the response is close to as good as any of their last 3 films, the Chennai Express record could well be in danger of being eclipsed. But since Krrish 3 is such a risky film, is could all go terribly wrong too.
The trade has its fingers crossed, as the Diwali period has always been highly lucrative for the industry. The combined business that Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son Of Sardar generated last year was 200 cr+

- Kaho Na Pyaar Hai - Way back in 2000, the entire industry and national audience were looking forward to the debut of Amitabh Bachchan's son Abhishek and Randhir Kapoor's daughter Kareena Kapoor in a film titled Refugee. About 7 months before the much-awaited release, Rakesh Roshan's son Hrithik made his debut in a love story with another newcomer Amisha Patel. Expectations weren't quite as high, but Hrithik single-handedly took the world by storm. Not only did he turn into a superstar overnight, comparisons were being made between Hrithik and the reigning superstar Shahrukh Khan. KNPH went on to be the biggest grosser of the year and won Hrithik the Best debut and Best Actor trophy that year.
- Koi Mil Gaya - The scenario was completely different. Expectations from KMG were high, but more importantly it was a make-or-break film for Hrithik who was written off by the media as a one-hit wonder. From comparisons with Shahrukh Khan to one-hit wonders like Kumar Gaurav, Hrithik had seen it all in the span of 3 years. Koi Mil Gaya though proved to be a turning point in Hrithik's career as the film, once again, went on to be the biggest grosser of 2003. After the release of Kaho Na Pyar Hai, Hrithik Roshan became one of the biggest superstars in Bollywood. Over the years, Hrithik has created a niche for himself as one of the most bankable stars of Bollywood. He is now gearing up with his home production Krrish 3, and is busy promoting the film all over. Bollywood3 caught up with Hrithik for an exclusive interview where he spoke about the film, his health and his upcoming ventures.
1. Since Krishh3 is all set for release, how has the journey been? Were there any ups and downs?
Ans: Well, every film has its ups and downs. Krrish 3 is a kind of film which was very hard to execute. Right from its budget to the shoot, everything was difficult. But with a lot of hard work and struggle we have pulled it off. And now, since we have traveled so far, it looks like it was a challenge which was worth taking on.
2. How difficult was it to shoot for the hardcore action part?
Ans: Well, when the shooting started and every single time I put on the Krrish suit, I felt like I was unstoppable. I went through 85 days of rigorous action and by the time I completed it, I hurt my knees, back and shoulders.
3. There have been a lot of comparisons of Krrish 3 with the X-Men series and its characters. What do you have to say about that?
Ans: Comparisons are always good. At least we are working on a genre that can be compared with Hollywood films. Krishh 3 is a first of a kind fully home-grown, high budget VFX extravaganza, which i am extremely proud of.
4. So you are saying that is an answer to people who believe that Bollywood cannot make superhero flicks?
Ans: No ! I am not answering anyone. We are only making a movie that we are excited about. Krishh 3 will be a full fledged superhero film that Bollywood has never seen before.
5. The fact that Krishh 3 is all about a superhero, were you in content with the idea of having songs in it?
Ans: Actually, my father comes from a school of thought, that music is a very important factor. It sure was difficult to incorporate songs, but at the end of the day we are Indians and our films are bound to have songs and dance.
6. How was it working with Vivek Oberoi ?
Ans: Vivek is one of the best co-stars I have ever worked with. He is a complete team player and I had his name in mind the first day I heard of the character, Kaal. Vivek has got the intensity and will surprise you with his performance.
7. You did a double role in Krishh and once again you are repeating it with Krishh 3. How different was it this time around?
Ans: It was extremely difficult because Rohit from Koi Mil Gaya was very childlike, but in this one he is also a father. I myself was scared because my face and body line had changed. Also, Rohit is basically the hero of the film, not Krrish, not Krishna. The entire story revolves around him. From Koi Mil Gaya, to Krrish and now to Krrish 3 it was a huge challenge, but i managed it with the help of my father Rakesh Roshan.
8.You have been through so much in terms of your health. So was there a time when you actually felt, Why Me?
Ans: You never ask why, because you never get the right answers. When you start questioning you will start blaming others for your problems. You should know to take complete responsibility of whatever is happening in your life.
9. This is the fourth time that you are working with your dad. Did you have any liberties of being a director's son on the sets?
Ans: No, I was in fact working as his assistant on the sets for the first two months of the shoot. I was cleaning the floors, helping Vivek put his costume on. And the equation between me and my dad has only been professional. Its his vision and I completely believed in it.
10. Tell us some thing about your next project?
Ans: After Krishh 3, I will start working on Bang Bang with Katrina and I am very eager to start shooting for it.
