Barun Sobti made his acting debut in 2008 with the family and faith oriented daily soap Shraddha, which aired on STAR Plus. He played the male lead Swayam Khurana, co-starring alongside seasoned actress, Neha Janpandit. However, the show failed to impress its audience, and was discontinued shortly after its release. Sobti later appeared in a cameo role in the popular teen television romance Dill Mill Gaye, where he played the negative role of patient Raj Singh, in rehabilitation for drug abuse. He later left the show as he got the opportunity to play the lead role in the show, Baat Hamari Pakki Hai, alongside actress Ankita Sharma. In the serial, he portrayed the comedic character of Shravan Jaiswal, a rich, spoilt but good-natured young man who engages in a temporary marriage via contract.
