I have read a diff story...after the MB war he asked some sage why he was born blind...getting birth as a King is a big achievement for a soul...it needs good karma of previous 100 birth only then as person is born as a royal. So why was he born as a blind.
The sage mediated for some time then said I dont see anything in your past 99 births. You karmas are flawless. Then in the previous 100th birth...
Dhritrashrta lived in a village. Once during floods entire village was wiped away. He took shelter on the tree...He saw a bird nest with chicks flowing in the flood.
He rescued the nest but the chirping irritated him.So in anger he popped the birds's eyes.
The sage said You did a god deed by rescuing the birds but since u popped their eyes.Thus you hav been born as a blind
