Well .. I've always been a huge Kajol fan but have to admit that she has never done a role as strong as Rani's in Black .. for that matter, I can't think of any BW actress who has ever performed a role like that with so much authenticity ..

Yes, it was a great role and she did well it, but it still isn't classified as a "iconic" film or even a iconic performance. Today, 7-8 years people don't remember Black, (except for her 10-11 fans )but they certainly remember KKHH or DDLJ. In fact people still watch these movies religiously. Has anyone even seen Black more than once or even once?

Even if Kajol's role was not as heavy as Rani, still...People still remember that and that's why DDLJ is still playing in theatres. So just because Rani acted well in 2-3 movies that doesn't mean you discredit Kajols whole existence.

Rani was great n all, but she was more of a "flavour of the season" type of star. Nobody remembers her Hum Tum, or Black. She was great in 2004 and 2005. But overall, several years later, its pretty obvious and clear that Kajol is more successful.

Kajol doesn't hold the most best actresses award record for no reason. As much as she has attitude problems and what it, she is still a huge superstar and one of the most loved actresses. More importantly ,she didn't have to break marriages and play politics to be where she is today.
