Part Four
Arnav was restless would be an understatement as he ran towards the washing machine to retrieve his clothes. He could not just roam outside in his boxers right? His hands fumbled with the pants and he wore it swiftly over the boxers while removing a freshly washed shirt from inside.
He buttoned up fast and ran towards the main door removing his car keys from the holder. His heart was speeding up fast as he entered the elevator and pushed the ground floor, with trembling hands. he did not know as why he was feeling terrible after seeing her cry.
There was more to her calm and quite faade, which totally slipped when she left. He rushed outside the elevator and looked around to have a glimpse of her. there was no one at the parking and the security guard was busy reading some newspaper.
"Do you see a girl in white top and blue jeans?" He enquired running his fingers through his hair as he searched for her frantically. The man frowned and then looked up at his tensed form.
"Mr. Raizada, I am sure I have seen a girl few minutes ago..She took a cab from the next block.." The man said politely while Arnav was almost on his way to take his car and follow her if possible.
He drove towards the block and looked at the numerous cabs running here and there with passengers. His hands halted on the steering wheel as he rested his head onto the same, sighing sadly.
What was happening to him, he did not know. Few minutes ago, he was one of the happiest man in the world, and now he felt like his whole world came to an end. What does she meant by everything is wrong? He rubbed his forehead with his free hand and looked at the crowded road in front.
"I will find you...no matter what"
He groaned and drove back to his apartment, too lost in her thoughts.
___________
Arnav looked at the phone number and dialed it carefully anticipating foe Khushi to pick the call. His heart thudded against his ribcage as he heard someone picking up the phone from the other side. He pressed the phone closer to his ear and drew in a long breath.
"Hello... Mrs. Bedworth?"
He asked hesitantly and heard some shuffling from the other side. He waited with bated breath for the person to speak.
"Yes...Mrs. Bedworth here...may I know who is this?" She elderly woman asked adjusting her glasses on her nose.
"This is Arnav Singh Raizada... umm... I was.."
Before he could finish his talk Mrs. Bedworth cut him off starting with her apologies for not being able to come to the work.
"Mr. Raizada... I met with an accident last night, while returning from the work and injured my leg badly...that's why I could...not..but I had informed the agency to send someone else to your place...I know you might have freaked out when you did not find me at time..." She said calmly while Arnav was losing his patience on the other end.
"I am sorry Mrs. Bedworth, I hope you are doing fine now... and the agency people did send someone in fact they send your own granddaughter to my house in the morning... Can I talk to her for a second? She just left in a hurry...thats..why.."
He hesitated but felt quite relieved after putting up the matter infront of her without any delay. He could not just let go of her right? She have started meaning so much to him, in mere hours. As if they were known from ages, as if they had a mutual understanding, as if they were connected...beyond boundaries.. his heart did a flip flap at the thought of her, and he sighed heavily.
"Mr. Raizada...are you sure that was my granddaughter? Because as far as I know I don't have any granddaughter..even I did not gave birth to any child, because my husband died right after 1 year of our marriage..." She said incredulously while Arnav clutched onto the receiver not really understanding a word she just mouthed.
No granddaughter? The who was she? He groaned inwardly and searched for words as he found himself going into a mute mode after listening to Mrs. Bedworth.
"Yes...she said she is your granddaughter, she introduced herself as Khushi Bedworth.. she said she writes columns on the newspaper "Dusk"... I am not getting as why someone will come all the way to my house lying to be your granddaughter.." He sighed staring at his clean house, and the things which was arranged beautifully at their respective places.
Mrs. Bedworth was silent for few minutes, as she was not getting anything straight. Old age had really had her, but she was sure that she does not have a granddaughter of her own. Well she did try to adopt one kid when she was 30 or something then dropped the idea after sometime.
"I am sorry Mr. Raizada...did you check with the agency? May be they could help you in this matter.." She suggested leaning back onto the bed while Arnav thanked her immediately and kept the call.
Mrs. Bedworth frowned looking at the receiver and then placed the same onto the holder. She needed to rest, so that she could get back to work as soon as possible.
______________
"Good Evening, sir..how can I help you?" The girl on the front desk asked checking him out thoroughly while he almost felt standing all naked infront of her. he however was not in a mood to flirt so he did what he came for.
"I want to meet Ms. Khushi, one of your columnists... its really important..." Arnav said tapping onto the desk while the girl shot him an incredulous look, before dialing the intercom to someone.
"Do you have an appointment sir?" The girl asked politely while Arnav shrugged his shoulders the corner of his lips twitching mechanically.
"Then I cant let you in sir, I am sorry..." She said averting her gaze from his stiffened form.
"Look lady... I don't have time to waste.. I want to meet her ASAP.. if you cant let me in then I will just find my way to her... do you want that?" He asked leaning onto the desk while the girl moved little back her eyes rounding instantly.
"Okay fine... It's the 3rd cabin from the right, 2nd floor.. and please don't tell her that I let you inside.." The girl said panicking a bit and he left from there muttering a whatever on the way.
__________
Arnav waited outside her cabin, there was a board on the door, which had written "Khushi Gupta" much to his amusement. So she is not Bedworth, she is a Gupta. He grinned before knocking onto the door with his impatient hands.
He heard a low come in from inside and he walked towards the small desk where Khushi Gupta was sitting , facing the window. his heart skipped a beat when she turned in the easy chair and shot a curious look at him.
"Yes..?" She asked adjusting the glass on her nose, her eyebrows knitted together.
Arnav was too lost for words, this was not something he had expected to see in his wildest of dreams. He felt like slapping himself hard on his head to get things straight. Was he seeing things? Or was she really, he trailed off looking at her form.
"Khushi..? I thought its Khushi's cabin.. I am sorry I think I have accidentally got into the wrong floor.." He said absent-mindedly walking towards the door but her voice soon stopped him.
"I am Khushi Gupta... and this is my cabin indeed... what do you want to talk about?" She asked standing up onto her heels, adjusting her silk blouse in the process. He felt like almost pulling out his hair at her words. She was nothing but Khushi, she was so fragile, soft, and.. he stopped his daydreaming and looked at her.
"Are you sure there is no other Khushi works here.. who's little tall, white, with long hair, deep hazel eyes, and cute button nose.. she wears this golden chain with a heart shaped pendant.." He breathed heavily after giving her the description of Khushi he was been searching for from yesterday.
The girl, who addressed herself as Khushi looked at him bewildered and then raised her arms in defeat.
"I don't know any such Khushi... who works here...except me..." She said slumping back onto the chair.
"Is she a friend or a relative? Is she gone missing or something? If yes, then you should stop wasting your time here and go straight to a police station to register the missing..." Khushi Gupta said in a clipped tone while Arnav ran his fingers through his hair messing it further.
"Thanks for your help..."
He said and left from there immediately.
_____________
"Ohmigod... He is so into you... why are playing with him anyways? I would have admitted to be Khushi Gupta..if he did not had left..." Lavanya said sighing dreamily while Khushi sat cross legged infront of her.
"I am not playing any games La... I just want him to come back to me...fully...recovered... I want my Arnav back, who had feelings for me... who loved me more than anything in this world...and this is all part of that plan.."
Khushi said closing her eyes for a brief second as Arnav's tensed face flashed infront of her eyes. She was inside the cabin hiding in the rest room, when Arnav was talking to Lavanya...enquiring about her. he seemed like a lost child.. she so wanted to crush him into her arms, but not yet.. she had to make sure that he indeed cared for her, not for a girl who left him in his house leaving so many questions behind. She just wanted her Arnav back, not the flesh and bones..but his heart and soul.
She will just wait for him to realize it very soon. After all "TRUE LOVE NEVER DIES" right?
