Chapter 8(b)
They were Nida's photographs with Ayan; very intimate ones; clearly stating that both were in some deep relationship.
'When did this happen?' she thought almost throwing them back where they came out from. Her mind started scanning for any hint as to when Ayan and Nida started going out, the only thing she remembered was the key ring Ayan once had, the one Neha thought was a 'Z'.
She sighed, shrugged and tried pushing it aside.
'Life is such a mystery, at least for me. it blesses me with a new impression every day, I never get time to comb this web and it is far more complicated by the time I think I am clearing at least a bit of it. fifty thousand miles to travel every day, all alone. No one to tell if the path I am following will eventually lead me to my destination or not. Huh! Destination? Haven't I already lost my destination? I wish I could get this mark cleared from my existence, the mark which very ruthlessly never fails to remind me of what I have lost. And what I can never have.'

"I need a little of your help Ali." Zoya and Ali were hardly done with their dinner when Zoya started with her little plan.
He stopped midway with the food he was going to stuff in his mouth.
"What help?"
He looked at Zoya who was very meaningfully staring down his eyes, as if trying to suck out something.
"You said you could track down people'. I mean you did track where I was. No?"
He laughed. "Tum kise track karna chahti ho?"
"Hai koi'." She pressed, observing every single movement of his expressions, but there wasn't any conceding or any twitch of the eye. He was pretty normal about it; quite to her disappointment.
"Sure'.anything for you'kab karna hai?"
"I'll leave the information I have with me'you can take your time."
"Don't give me creeps'.. is everything okay?"
"Yeah'its soon going to be."
"What does that mean?"
"Nothing'you tell'. Which codes are you trying to decipher these days?" She tried diverting the topic.
"Aoh! Many..nowadays there are these trendy loop ones, im getting my head scratched on em'how I miss the old days when the CBs used to be so much fun and hell easy'. I once tried teaching you too but you were soo poor at them'.. you said you hated Ceasar for making them. "
"You are talking about the Ceasar's Box right?" Zoya recalled the codes he used to make her understand.
"Yeah'you remember?"
"Nah'nothing but the name."
"Come on they were only numbers'and you were so good at mathematics."
The stalkers message flashed in front of her eyes, pulling all her attention towards them.
"Numbers?"
'If its him'is he giving me a hint for that message? I swear Ali if its you I will kill you there and then.'
"Yeah'. Numbers'.more or less almost all codes are usually numbers; you can have fun playing with the digits and of course with the minds of other people too." He said sheepishly, where Zoya was lost connecting the dots. She now remembered that there was a little CB written at the end of the text. So if it is a Caesars's Box, she might get dangerously near the stalker. Her heart started jumping under her bosom.
'It can't be him'. He is so normal about everything'' besides anyone can own a typewriter with a broken 'd' '.but why a 'd' only?' She cursed it.
She forced a smile to cover up her anxiety. "Why don't we try it again?"
"Don't want to make you run away so soon." He said seriously.
Of course his statement had double meaning. Zoya rolled her eyes and tried appearing unfazed. She shifted in another posture, in the process something fell under the table with an audible thud; her face drained out every drop of blood it had. She impulsively bent down to fix the revolver in her boot again. Something she had started keeping after the comeback of the stalker in her life again. Ali quite confused also made for it, just a second late to see what it was. Zoya immediately straightened up sighing in relief.
"My cell phone fell." She stammered.
"I see' is it working?" The reverberation was quite metallic and he wasn't satisfied.
She enacted accordingly, switching it on when it wasn't even off.
"Yeah its fine'.we were talking about the code."
"yeah' the code'. Its nothing but a combination of the first, second or any number of something in a series, condition- it is a perfect square, you can rearrange it to find what it is'simple' to decipher it completely''." He continued and Zoya listened in silence, her thoughts lingering between the words Ali was said and the stalkers message.
Zoya frowned, what could it be that he is using as a series in the combination he gave. And it suddenly clicked, they must be the letters. Of course, he had been sending her letters all along, all with a serial number. Ali was still saying something but she was too oblivious to make out anything. Her mind was caught up in the web again. She now remembered why the font gave her a dj-vu. It was the same as the ones on the envelops of each letter'. They were never in a sequence. For a moment she felt she couldn't breathe anymore, her heart almost stopped beating. The adrenaline rush sucked up all her attention. She jumped on her feet the very next moment startling Ali who was in the middle of something she was not listening to.
"Ali' I remember I had to visit Neha tonight, she must be going nuts by now''. I need to leave'. I am so sorry I almost forgot." She lied very conveniently.
He gaped in utter chaos and confusion. His expressions changed from bewilderment, to a little dissatisfaction to okay-fine-you can go.
"Why all of a sudden?" He couldn't help not ask.
"I forgot'. I am so sorry. I know there was so much to say' next time!" She gathered up her stuff, almost running towards the main door.
He made after her. "Fine' take it easy.. you don't need to rush."
"Thank you Ali!" she sighed, after all he did somehow make things easier for her. She left; he slammed his fist on the closed door in frustration, shaking his head in utter dismay.

Zoya entered her house, checked every nook and corner to be sure there was no intruder inside, she banged all the doors shut and all the windows including the curtains were also pulled down. She detached the telephone line, switched off her cell phone and disconnected the internet connection in the house too; finally pulling away the fuse of the main hall she entered her room with the letters in her hand and his text copied on a lose sheet. She knew very well that if the stalker was conscious of what she is up to, she will categorically try to agitate her or might even try to aggravate her by doing something very inapt. But for the moment she wanted all her concentration on the conundrum only, any diversion might take her fifty miles away from her goal. She wasn't going to let that happen now.
Very carefully she separated all the letters with the respective serial numbers, at the same time ignoring her strident thumping heart. The combination was indeed a perfect square- a perfect square of seven. She inscribed all the alphabets and digits below the combination. Pushing down the last one she finally tried making any sense of it.

'What the hell is this?' she thought and then remembered that she is only half way through. These alphabets were supposed to be arranged in a seven cross seven (7x7) grid and then read vertically. Her hands started putting pen to paper again.
| B | G | U | D | R | R | I |
| L | H | R | E | 8 | P | N |
| A | T | D | C | P | C | D |
| C | S | A | E | M | O | M |
| K | S | Y | M | S | M | E |
| N | A | 1 | B | H | E | A |
| I | T | 9 | E | A | F | Y |
She read each line from top to bottom, and then forgot how to breathe. It indeed made sense, some sense she so did not want it to make at all. Shaking her head in dismay she carved it down on the paper in her hand.
B L A C K N I G H T S A T U R D A Y 1 9 D E C E M B E R 8 P M S H A R P C O M E F I N D M E A Y
She wrote it again.
BLACK NIGHTS, SATURDAY, 19 DECEMBER, 8 PM SHARP. COME FIND ME. 'AY
Her hand instinctively made for her mouth as she stared at it in utter shock and skepticism.
Black Nights was a famous club, Saturday was only two days ahead, 19 December was her date of birth, 8 PM was the exact time of the arrival of each letter and AY probably stands for Always Yours; as in all his letters.
Zoya suddenly felt her head spinning, her body space bound and mind lost in the murkiness of whatever was happening. It it weren't for the thunderous clunk on her window's pane she might have never come out of that obscurity. Her existence was frozen, she couldn't gather up even an iota of energy to get up and see what it was. Of course it had to be him, the intruder, the stalker, the trespasser ruining her life. Captivated in a mysterious spell of dreadful trepidation, stony horror, and an endless apprehension she sat there like a lifeless being for almost an eternity. All she wanted to be invisible, erase all the memories from her past, the tortures from the present, blow all the candles out, push away all these cursed nights and make everything alright. All she could not think at the moment was that everything might, just might be alright somewhere, sometime.
She somehow convinced herself to get up and check what it was, pulling the blinds aside her eyes tore apart seeing the note sticking with the window.
"WE ARE WATCHING YOU."
As if she didn't know, so he knew what she was up to, and now he knows that she has decoded his stupid code, he will now start preparing for their encounter two days from now. She felt weak slacking down on the floor she started weeping like an infant. Her cries would have been audible to anyone in a hearing range, but she didn't care. She wanted to bleed it out- her pain, her fears and her helplessness.
"What did I do to deserve it?" She yelled.
But we are not always punished for our own sins, sometimes we have to pay for the transgressions someone else commits. She pushed herself towards the kitchen and pulled out the bottle of pills from the drawer. She wanted to sleep, sleep forever, not even her insomnia would come in her way this time. Emptying the bottle in the grinder she added some milk in it, shaking it for a few minutes she poured it in a mug but then stood there staring at it with the most uncanny expressions playing on her tormented and grief-stricken existence.
She stood there wondering what is easier. Whether to just put an end to your life and in turn put up an end to all the peaks and lows of a miserable life, or whether one should put up slings and arrows against the world and fight till the end. And she chose the first one as I did not have the intention nor the motivation to raise arms against my black fortune. She did not have reason to live. Living with out a family, without the love which breaks you every minute, with all this torment without any reason to be tormented.
She clutched the mug tightly in her hands, the grail which was going to put an end to her misery. It was the time to end it all, and sleep blissfully in the arms of the death which ever awaited.
"No-h!" She muttered giving up. She helplessly pushed away the death she was going to cuddle and instead embraced life again. Those who say that "Suicide is an act of cowardice" are only fools .No, suicide requires a lot of strength, everyone just can't end his life just like that. Even after everything happening to her, she could not push herself to the edge and put a full stop. She wanted to live, she wanted to breathe, to feel, she wanted to give her hopes another life.
She did not want to cry any more, but the throbbing pain in her heart and mind made the water leak out rather silently. Her heart was still racing a mile every passing second, its resonance could be heard in the utter silence around her.
She made for her room with her batted breathing and throbbing headache. Fear, nervousness, horror- she was too oblivious to feel anything right now. She had turned the iron doors to her inner instincts. There was no adrenaline rush, no cold sweats, no momentous chills running down her spine; she was herself surprised at the normality dawning upon her every passing second. She wasn't struggling to breathe any more, nor was the frequency of her heart any abnormal now. If God gives pain, he gives the strength to bear it too.
Zoya- who thought sleep would be impossible for her now, was resting in the arms of slumber in no time. Stepping into the world of dreams- dreams if you could call them, because they were mere dreadful nightmares, shadowing her like her stalker, but sleep was something she was so not used to in her life now.

Heavy blue foamy waves lashed on the yellow sands of the beach. The sun rays striking on the calm blue water at a distance made it sparkle like diamonds- diamonds on the inside. The breeze was soothing yet captivating, blowing the lose strands to and fro on her calm features; her eyes were shut as she took in pleasure with the zephyrs blowing. A strong set of arms snake around her waist from behind, her lips curl up in the most striking smile ever.
"Asad'" she whispers.
He doesn't reply instead his lips find the way to her neckline tracing down a series of passionate yet gentle kisses until they reach her collar bone. Her eyeballs motion restlessly through her already closed eyes. He turns her around and smiles at the innocent smile adorning her gorgeous features.
"Zoya'." He whispers near her ears.
Her already dazzling smile brightens up, embellishing her cheeks with the cutest dimple in the world. He smiles to himself, his eyes burning with desire; he irons her in his embrace yet again; closing in to her even more. Her eyes were still sealed; he places another kiss on her eye lids, so softly that it could hardly be felt. Very impetuously her hands crawl on his muscular frame finally resting around his collar. Their foreheads couple'.
"I love you'.." His lips motion. The words strike her like the purest melody, the sweetest song, an enticing symphony. Her deep brown eyes gradually open to drown in his dark ones. She could comprehend her whole life in them, he gazed back equally lost. She slowly traces her fingers on his temples running down on his cheeks following his jaw line finally settling on his lips. He locked his eyes shut, taking in every iota of her touch, feeling its effect on his being; smiling bewitchingly. She felt lost in his miraculous curves, his arresting features, his awe-inspiring proximity, his exhilarating touch and her breaths mixing up with his.
He did not wait for her reply, after all 'I love you' is a confession not a question, we don't need an answer for it. Does it really matter? Can this one statement turned question change our feelings for someone if the answer is not what we are expecting? No it cant. Not in case of true love, when you love without reason, when your heart doesn't leave you a choice and when you lose control over your decisions. It's a connection between souls. You don't feel the rush on the touch, the clutch, its not lust, its not torturous. Its boundless, limitless, beyond belief, beyond enlightenment, beyond realizations' if it exists; only if it truly exists.
It starts drizzling, the little tiny drops of rain settle on their existence. The rain did nothing to minimize the intensity in their gaze, the passion in their touch. The torches of the sun were completely under the influence of the dense dark clouds which might burst out any minute. They would never have broken up with their eye-lock if it weren't for the ear splitting cries of a woman's.
Zoya looked for the source of sound, but couldn't find it out. She apprehensively looked in Asad's direction who wasn't there anymore. Her anxiety increases as she now looks for Asad; almost yelling out his name. The density of the raindrops increased; the sky was now pouring buckets of water, as if someone had left all the taps open up there. Her vision starts blurring. She searches for Asad in more desperation. Finally her eyes settle on a distant figure, a while passes the figure clears a bit. She realizes it wasn't just one but two people. Her eyes make another attempt to clear the vision when she feels a hand on her shoulder. She turns around expecting it to be Asad but to her surprise finds Ali there instead. Her heads spins with utter confusion. She shifts her attention on the distant figures again. She recognizes one face, it was Neha; a heap more on her puzzlement. She looks for the other face again. She could hardly make it out, but it felt like him'HIM!?!

Zoya woke up with a jerk, panting badly; with the obnoxious dream playing and replaying in front of her eyes.
'What was this?'

Kindly leave your precious comments behind! I have put in a lot of work in this chapter'. The code only took me 2 hours. Yes its quite tiring if you are doing it for the first time.
I was surprised that I was finding it difficult to decipher my own code'lol!
