I read Bhawana Somaaya's views on DKDM. And I think she is right. There was never any concept of kids hugging their parents in Indian culture. Shiva or Parvati hugging their kids and that too, grown up and married kids is excessive "creative liberty". Those filmy looking intimate scenes between Shiv-Parvati, Shiv-Sati were also rather tasteless for a mytho show. Ramayan track, its handling and casting is the biggest blunder by DKDM. The guy playing Ram is misfit for that character in every way. The lady playing Sita is too dolled up and lacks the innocence to portray Sita (though she had that in abundance when she had done CB's first season few years ago).
Grown up Ganesha is a wrong choice and his dialogue delivery has still not improved. Kartikeya should have been replaced after the leap. Rushi is talented for sure but putting a moustache doesn't make you a grown up.
New Parvati is not bad. But she has to try harder. She is trying hard to fit in but still needs improvement and also needs to learn how to give a controlled performance yet not make it apparent and look relaxed onscreen.
One thing that makes me curious is that why are they using poetical dialogues in Ramayan episodes? For authenticity? LOL! You made so many changes for viewers then why not get rid of poetical dialogues?
And why do Shiv or Parvati get teary eyed every now and then while witnessing Ram-Sita's interactions? They are Gods! They know everything and they are supposed to be detached and composed no matter what.
So why this rona dhona and even khushi ke aansun?
DKDM is unfortunately using names of "characters" as characters only for their version of stories. They don't seem to bother about divinity and reverence associated with the characters.
The show is relying too much on MR and ruining the stories.They better clean up their act and also give us good stories or else all pressure would be on MR to get eyeballs and give his best.
This is the only show where I have seen Mahadev cry even tears of joy! How can they do this to Mahadev? The Ultimate Yogi? The Destroyer? The embodiment of vairagya? The Supreme Dev!
Crying like an effeminate and emotionally weak human male is really unacceptable! This is not an Ekta Kapoor show or K Jo movie!
