FIRST STEP TO FACE THE PAST

Delhi:

Arnav was lying down on his bed. A smile was playing on his lips while he was thinking about the conversation he had with Khushi earlier. He was very happy today that they had talked for so long today. It brought their old memories back.

Flashback:

7 years back, Lucknow (When Arnav and Khushi were 10yrs Old)–

Khushi and her friend Tani were playing in the park next her house. Soon Arnav came there to find Khushi since he could not find her home but when he saw her playing with Tani he started fuming in anger. He hated Tani; he always felt the she was snatching Khushi from him. Arnav never liked Khushi spending her time with Tani instead of him … he wanted her all for himself. So it was natural to anger rise in him when he saw them playing.

Arnav (self-thought): I think I will have to do something to get rid of that brat! How dare she try to snatch my Kisha from me!

Arnav started thinking of a plan and when he decided what to do he started walking towards them.

Arnav: Hey Kisha!

Khushi: Arnie!

Khushi ran to Arnav and gave him a tight hug.

Tani: Hi Arnav!

Arnav: Hi Tani! How come you are here today? I thought you had your dance class today!

Tani: No I don't have it today!

Arnav: Oh really! Wonder why Anjali Di went to her class today!

Tani: She went for class today?

Arnav: Ya she said the teacher has kept an extra class today so she went! Are you sure you don't have class?

Tani: Uhhh … I don't know! If Anjali Di has gone then probably we do! I might have missed out on hearing it! Dance Ma'am is going to scold me so much if I miss the class.

Khushi: Don't worry Tani!

Arnav: Well if you leave now you can still make it!

Tani: Really?

Arnav: Ya! You might be a bit late but it's better than missing the class!

Tani: You are right! Tank for letting me know about the class Arnav!

Arnav: You are welcome!

Tani left from the park after saying Goodbyes to Arnav and Khushi.

Khushi: I hope her Dance Ma'am won't scold her!

Arnav: I am100% sure she won't!

Khushi: How can you be so sure?

Arnav: Coz she would only scold her if she would be there!

Khushi: What do you mean by 'if she would be there'?

Arnav: Oh ho! Why would she go there if there is no dance class?

Khushi: What do you mean by 'there is no dance class'? …. OMG Arnie you lied to Tani!

Arnav: Yes I did!

Khushi: How can you do that! Didn't you see … Tani was on the verge of crying!

Arnav: So what? I don't care!

Khushi: Arnavvv!

Arnav: Khushiii!

Khushi: You know what? I don't want to talk to you! BYE!

And before Arnav could speak anything she ran away from there. She did not stop even when Arnav called out her name. So even he started running behind her and soon he caught up with her and held her hand to stop her from walking away again.

Arnav: Kisha … I am sorry yaar!

Khushi: I don't want to hear any sorry worry from you! Let go of me!

Arnav: I promise I won't do that again!

Khushi! Arnavvv!

Arnav (while pouting): Please please pleassseee maaf kar do!

Khushi: Ok fine! But you better promise me that you will not do this again!

Arnav (While crpssing his finger at the back): Pakka promise I won't do that again!

Khushi gave him a huge smile when she heard that.

Arnav: Waise … tumari naak lal hai![Anyways your nose is red!]

Khushi: Meri naak lal nahi hai!

Arnav: Hai!

Khushi: Nahi hai!

Arnav: Haiii!

Khushi: Nahi haiii!

Arnav: Haiii!!

Khushi: Nahi haiii!!

Arnav: Ok lal nahi hai but chotti tho hai! [Ok but its small!]

Khushi: Arnavvv!

Arnav: Khushiii!

Khushi smacked his shoulder and started walking towards her home while Arnav was trying to control his laughter before he could go to her and pacify her again.

End of Flashback

His smile widened at that memory. He just used to love irritating Khushi just so that he could see her cute little nose turning red. But soon his smiling expression changed into a worried expression when he thought about his tomorrow's visit to Buaji. But he had already decided that it was time to face the past and visiting Buaji is the first step towards it. And hence he kept threw that thought away and went to sleep with loving memories of his Kisha.

Next Day, Melbourne:

Khushi was sitting on her study table with her books open but her mind was occupied elsewhere. She was thinking about how similar Arnav and her Arnie are. The way he talks and nags her is completely similar to the way her Arnie used to.

A smile adorned her face when she back from that thought. Then her thought drifted to the online chat she had with Arnav yesterday.

Khushi (self-thought): How can two people be so similar? Why do I always get this feeling that I am talking to my Arnie? He talks like Arnie, nags me like Arnie and he even knows me like Arnie. How much can Buaji even tell him about me that he can start knowing me like Arnie? And if Buaji has told him so much about me then why hasn't she even mentioned about him to me even once. God this so confusing! If not for his last name I would have definitely concluded he is my Arnie in the beginning itself. That idiot does not even have his own profile picture … Cant he put his face as his dp instead of a stupid bike! What if he is my Arnie and whatever he is telling me about him are lies? No why would he lie to me …. Arnie would never lie to me! But still ... God my head is spinning thinking about all this. Khushi you should just stop thinking about all this or else you will go mad. Yes … I should just focus on the studies now… I can find out about all this later. If I will keep thinking about this I will get more tangled in these confusing thoughts and end up failing my exams. And anyways I am going to India after 2 weeks. I will definitely meet him then and all my confusions will be gone then.

Then with a determined look she started studying keeping aside all other thoughts.

Meanwhile in Delhi:

As decided both Arnav and Anjali were standing in front of the City Hospital to meet Buaji. They entered the hospital and went to the receptionist to ask for Buaji's room number and once they got it they started walking towards the room. Once they reached in front of the door they both took a deep breath and looked at each other. They both held each other's hand to support each other. Arnav pushed open the door slowly and there they saw Buaji sitting on the bed with her back resting on the headrest of the bed and reading a newspaper. Since she had still not noticed them Arnav slowly called out –

Arnav: Buaji!

When Buaji heard the voice she turned towards the door and carefully looked at the two people standing at the door. Soon a gasp left her mouth.

Buaji: Hai Re Nandkishore!
