~RECAP~

Swayam turned into a cold, hard and arrogant person after he got betrayed by his girlfriend Priya and his friends for his money. He now doesn't believe in any relationships. He thinks people only runs after money. He always keeps himself busy with his work. His parents couldn't see him like this so they fixed his marriage with Sharon, his father's childhood friend's daughter. Sharon is a sweet and shy girl who fell in love with him at their first meeting, but she realises after hearing Swayam's truth from his mother that she has always loved him from her childhood days by hearing his stories from her father and looking at his pictures. She challenged Swayam's destiny who has given him so much pain that she will make him happy. She meets him in his office where Swayam hurts her but she calmly asks him to accompany her for shopping as she wants to buy him a gift. He told him what she wants in return. What gift she wants. She told him she got world best gift that is his friendship. They decide they will meet at 6:30 in the evening. Sharon took him to juhu beach and they had a chaat competition which Sharon loses on purpose. Her sacrifice, selflessness brought the real Swayam out who loves having chaat and going to beaches. She saw him laughing hard for the first time which gave her immense happiness. But when Swayam came back to his senses he got frustrated cause of the fights between his heart and mind and he left her alone in juhu beach but later came back and voiced his insecurities in front of her. She soothed him and assured him not to worry about the marriage as she is also doing this because of her parents. She lied. And both hoped that they stay strong in front of each other so that they can hide their feelings. For Sharon her feelings and for Swayam his insecurities.

Chapter 5

A week has passed after their last meeting. Sharon used to call him in every one or two days in the past week. Their conversations have become like normal conversations between friends. Due to Sharon's initiation he has started to open up to her.

Two days were left in their marriage. Like normal days Swayam went to his office and was working. It was almost lunch hour when his cell buzzed in his trouser's pocket. It was a call from his mother. He answered it.

"Yes Mom.."

"Swayam wherever you are and whatever you are doing leave it and just come home immediately." He panicked.

"What happened Mom? Is everything fine?"

"Just come home Swayam. Right now."

"But Mom.." the call ended. He got really worried for his parents. He thought "what if they are in any trouble..or is it Sharon who is.." without wasting a second he wind up everything and rushed for his home.

When he reached home he saw his parents were talking with Sharon and her parents. He sighed in relief. His eyes were locked at Sharon. She was looking beautiful, as an angel as always. But before his heart and mind could fight over this he diverted both by striking a conversation with his Mom.

"Mom is everything fine? Why did you call me here?"

She smiled. "Nothing serious beta. They wanted to talk with you. If I told that to you, you wouldn't have come." she smirked pointed towards Mr. and Mrs. Raiprakash.

He huffed and went close to them, bowed down, and took their blessing.

"Yes Sir anything serious?"

"Swayam please first sit down then we will talk peacefully." Mr. Raiprakash said pointing towards the sofa were Sharon was sitting alone. He looked at that direction and got a heart skipping smile from her. He returned her smile with a genuine smile and went and sat beside her.

He could see everyone was looking at him nervously except one person, which was Sharon.

"What happened? Why are you all looking at me like that?" he asked confused.

Mr. Raiprakash cleared his throat and said "Swayam see.." he took a deep breath.

Swayam could feel he was really nervous about something.

"Sir please be relaxed and say whatever you want to say." He tried to calm him a little.

He again cleared his throat. "Swayam see I know you don't like all the rituals and all. You just want a simple marriage. But Swayam, Sharon is our one and only daughter and we want her marriage to be grand and with all the rituals."

He was speechless. He hasn't thought Sharon's father will plead to him like this for the rituals and all. But the rituals didn't matter to him anymore. Now he knows he is not destroying a girl's life by marrying her as she is also marrying him for her parent's happiness. So if her parents wanted this then he will definitely say yes, for her friend's parent's happiness. He knew if her parents will be happy, it will make her happy. But, but, but when from her happiness mattered to him so much that.. He dusted off his thoughts.

"Sir.." he was cut off as his phone buzzed. It was a message from Sharon. He excused himself and opened the message. It read "Swayam you don't need to say yes. I know you don't want all these. So its okay. I will also say no for the rituals. :)"

He was amused to see her selflessness. His heart was happy. And his mind..Well it knew that now he trusts her and he listens to his heart, it will be no use if it says something. That's why it kept quite. He didn't reply anything to Sharon and went and sat back on the sofa. He saw four pleading eyes were on him. They were pleading him to say yes with their eyes. He sighed and said

"Okay the marriage will be done with all the rituals."

No one replied. Everyone was looking at him surprised and Sharon, she was totally shocked. He looked at her and smiled and assured her with his eyes that he is fine with the decision.

It was evening and Shekhawat Mansion was looking like a bride wearing beautiful ornaments. The whole Mansion was covered in flowers, curtains and lights. Swayam's Mom managed to convince Swayam that he will not go back to his office as in the evening the mehendi ceremony will take place. The next day in the morning there will be sangeet, in the evening haldi and then the next day, it will be the grand day, their marriage. At the beginning he thought that the rituals will take place from tomorrow. But he had no other choice than to stay back at home. He knew now he can't back off as everyone's happiness is related with this. Ultimately he had to say yes to his Mom.

The mehendi ceremony was going on in full swing. It was decided that all the rituals will take place in Sharon's grandmother's house. All the ladies and small small girls were busy in painting their palms with mehendi. Swayam was standing in one corner and was looking at Sharon. He could see an unknown glow on her face. She was wearing a maroon lehenga which was shinning because of the golden embroidery on it. But more than that her face was shinning. There was an unknown glint in her eyes. She was looking like a fairy to Swayam who came down from the heaven just for him. Then he slapped his head for thinking like that but he was really confused with his own behavoiur, own feelings. Why was he getting attracted towards her? She is a friend to him. Then why?

Like the mehendi ceremony all the other rituals got over. And in every ritual Sharon's glowing, her smile, the glint in her eyes attracted Swayam more towards her. With every passing minute he started to get confused. On the other hand Sharon didn't even know that her wish and her hope were turning into reality. Not that fast, but slowly slowly it was turning into reality. She didn't know that Swayam has already started to feel something for her. She was in her own world enjoying the rituals to the fullest. She knew for Swayam all these rituals don't matter but for her they were everything. This marriage was everything.

It was finally the grand day. Sharon was looking at her own image in the mirror. She could feel, more than her dress, her ornaments, her shiny make up, her eyes were shinning. There was smile on her face. A smile of happiness, of getting everything, of getting her life. Her heart was beating rapidly. She couldn't make out whether its jumping in joy or its throbbing cause of nervousness. But then she concluded, it cann't be nervousness. She knows she is going to be the wife of the best person in this whole world. Her love, her Swayam. it was joy of dance which her heart was doing. but what about Swayam. is he alright. She took her phone and texted him "Swayam are you alright? You remember right that I am also doing this for my parent's sake. So you don't need to stress, okay?"

She was waiting for his reply but it never came, instead she heard some loud music was coming closer and closer to her ears. She ran towards the window to see Swayam coming on a horse and everyone else dancing. He was wearing a golden coloured sherwani, with a red turban. She couldn't see his face as it was covered with string of flowers. Swayam on the other hand was desperate to see Sharon. He didn't know why. His eyes were searching only one person which was Sharon. He knew that this marriage doesn't matter to him but still he couldn't figure out why he wanted to see her in the bridal dress. His cousin brothers help him get down from the horse and they walked till the door of the Mansion. While going in he saw a huge board, on it there was his and Sharon's picture and a caption with lights "Swayam weds Sharon". He didn't know why but it brought a smile on his face. Sharon's grandmother, her parents and many other people were waiting for them, for him. He went to them and took her grandmothers and her parents blessings. Sharon's grandmother sprinkled rose water on him and then did the 'aarti'. These things were making his heart happy, confusing him more. He entered the Mansion with everyone else with a confused mind. Sharon's parents take him to that place where they are going to become one, where they are going to be called as husband and wife. The priest started to chant mantra. But Swayam couldn't concentrate on them. He was constantly looking at the stairs from where his angel will be coming. "His?" he thought. But stopped thinking further when he saw the angel coming down with a garland in her hands with her mother and few other girls. He couldn't remove his eyes from her. They got locked on her. She came and stood in front of him. She asked "you okay?" with her eyes. He instantly wanted to say "never better before". But why he wanted to say it he didn't know. He just assured her that he is fine with his eyes.

While taking the 7 vows of marriage Swayam felt like whatever happens in his life he will keep those promises and for Sharon, they were everything. Before their marriage also she has always kept Swayam's happiness in front of her and she will keep doing so. She felt butterflies running in her stomach when Swayam made her wear the 'mangalsutra' and putsindoor' on her. She felt as if she is in the heaven. One by one all the rituals got over. Finally they were one, husband and wife. Swayam had to give 5000 bucks to Sharon's friends and cousins for getting back his shoe, that too after a lot of bargaining by his cousins. It was time for Sharon's 'vidaai'. Her parents, her grandmother and everyone close to her were crying. But when Swayam saw tears in Sharon's eyes, it made his heart ache. But again he didn't know why.

They were already at the door steps of Swayam's house. Sharon was so happy that she felt like she will burst out any Moment. With all the rituals they entered in 'their' house. They didn't have the slightest idea, what was coming their way. Everyone there was showering them with their blessing and gifts. Only now 'their' parents were left. Mr. and Mrs. Shekhawat. They gave something to Sharon. It was no big box, nothing. It was just an envelope. When she saw the papers inside she was shocked. Swayam couldn't figure out what it is. But her expression scared him. He took it and screamed "honeymoon tickets for Goa?" he looked up totally horrified at the smirking faces of his parents.

I know sorry will be an understatement but still I want to say I am extremely sorry for making you wait for so long 😒 Thank you so much for you likes and lovely comments. 😊 I couldn't reply to every individual comment this time but will be doing so from the next time for sure.

N yes I really have a very little knowledge of the rituals of marriage. I tried to explain the marriage part but don't know whether I could do justice or not. Please do forgive me for my mistakes.
