The Meeting

Chapter 9

ASR was sitting in his study with a file in front of him on the desk, the file he had been waiting impatiently for past 2 days

The cover of the file read

"Stark Detective Services",

"VBCW-Verification & Background Check Wing",

"Strictly confidential"

He wanted to read the contents but was feeling an unknown restlessness, shrugging off this unexplainable feeling

ASR opened the file , the file wasn't a very thick one, probably because they were still investigating,Along with the file was a sealed envelope,

he opened it and found several pics of Khushi taken while entering exiting her building, her office, sitting in her car, outside court, in some restaurant. Flicking through the photos he noticed her expressions- In some she was very serious , in some she looked tired, in one very concentrated, in another frustrated probably little angry and in the last one she was smiling, seeing her smiling face unknowingly his lips also curved up but was soon replaced by a frown seeing the source of her smile , she was sitting in a restaurant , drinking something & smiling at well build young man sitting in front of her whose back was only visible in the photo. ASR stuffed the photos back in the envelop angrily & muttered "bas***d", as soon as the worlds escaped his lips, he was shocked ,

What has gotten into me??Why was I calling a man I dint knew, even whose face I hadn't seen, ' a bas***d'

Was I feeling jea...hey wait what am I thinking, she is not my girlfr...i mean its not that im dating her or something...o my god!!!! what am I thinking ,she's my enemy with whom I have to take revenge and here my mind ...

That stupid- stupid -stupid girl is the reason behind all this, I will not leave her!!!

But...hey... she's not stupid rather she's very intellige...NO NO not again, Im so messed up now, I don't know whats happening to me. ASR said cradling his face in his palms.

Anyways I have to clear up my mind, and concentrate at task ahead, ASR took 2-3 deep breaths calming himself he opened the file again,

There were several headings, like basic information, professional details & history , personal details & history, financial status, social circle, medical history, miscellaneous details & so on

ASR read first the basic information , most of which he already knew, after which followed the personal details, ASR intendedly read each & every detail, After reading, there was a painful expression on his face

He closed his eyes, took a deep breath , rested his head on the table , the facts he read in the file kept on raking his mind.

Khushi was just 8 years old when she witnessed the fatal accident of her parents and their death in front of her eyes, she was left alone in the world with no close relatives, even after belonging to an upper middle class family, she was subjected to live in an orphanage coz after her parents death bank sealed all their properties, but she was an exceptionally bright student even after studying in a govt school, she bagged a seat in Harvard Law School, but due to financial dearth & absence of sponsor, she had to give up & later she joined NLU, Delhi on scholarship. After completing her BA LLB...(there was a gap of one & a half years during which the agency couldn't get any info abt her whereabouts)

About a year & half later she was in Mumbai, joined Rathore law firm and completed her MA LLB here, since then she is in Mumbai.

After she completed her Masters, Rathore law firm became Rathode & Gupta law firm. She soon won few very sensitive high profile cases making her join the league of best criminal lawyers in the country. After which there was no looking back, she kept winning cases after cases in these 3 years making her the best & most expensive advocate in the country.

Relatives-NO info

Close friends- She's quite close to Rathod family apart from them no info

Love life-no info, except that presently she's single.

ASR was feeling very disturbed, there was an emotional turmoil going inside him. He had always lived a luxurious life since his birth, he had a pampered & protected childhood, a loving caring family, great friend circle, an enjoyful & carefree youth, instant stardom without much struggle, one could simply say he received everything in life on silver platter.

Where as this Gupta girl , how much she suffered, How can god be so ruthless to a mere 8 yr old child, she lost so much, he couldn't even imagine himself in her place, he knew he wouldn't have been able to gather himself if something like that would have happened to him, but she, she not only faced it all bravely but look at where she is now, She is truly a self made woman!!!

An instant respect & pride aroused in his mind for her.

He took out one of her photographs, and caressed her face tenderly

He now for sure knew he will play fair with her, he for the first time has met somebody who has a backbone, who is worthy of being played fair with, and he will not back down, he will not resort to any dirty trick with her, he promised himself. Though he would also not forget his insult, he will not let his ego down at any cost.

Just then Aman knocked and entered his study, "Sir Advocate Jha has arrived"

Good...send him in

After sometime Advocate Jha entered his study

Good afternoon ASR

Hhmm ASR gestured him to sit down.

So what do think of the case Jha.

Well'...whats there to think about, its an open & shut case, you stopped shooting for their film, they filed a case against u claiming their loss, but u have not signed a contract for the film, so they'll not be able to do anything. The case will be rejected on the very first day, u need not worry.

But I took the signing amount.

Don't worry they will not be able to prove that the money they gave u was for the film.

Jha don't u think ur taking the case too leniently, keep one thing in mind I don't like losing & if I loose the case it will not be good for ur health.

ASR..ASR believe me im the best in the field, I will not let u loose ur money, I know my ways.ok

Suddenly Jha's gaze fell on the photo lying on the table

He rose from his chain & grabbed the photo, "Khushi"

ASR how do u know her??

What do u mean I know her, she's Mehta's advocate. Don't tell me u didn't knew u were fighting my case against her. ASR's pitch was rising, he could believe that this stupid Jha is taking the case so lightly He didn't even knew who was he fighting against and the hearing was just 2 days far. I just hope I havent done a mistake hiring him.

Oh..so Khushi is fighting against me. Jha said giving out an evil chuckle

Something about him was not giving good vibes to ASR. His reaction after knowing abt Khushi was irking him.

O..this will be fun, does she know she'll be standing against me in the court???

Yes...maybe...does it matter???

Believe me ASR, it does. Probably if she would have know its me, she wouldn't have taken the case in first place.

This was a new piece of information to ASR, Khushi whom even he could not deter. Why would she back out knowing its Jha on the other side?

And why do u think so?

It's a long story, some past settlements. Jha said smirking.
