Thanks to Anam for ideas for this episode. And jaan, before you actually carry out all those death threats, here is your episode...
EPISODE 54
The next morning Roshni came downstairs to one more of her mom's tempers. Pooja was standing in front of her husband literally hollering at him. It was slightly amusing to watch because Ranvijay was 6 foot while Pooja was a mere 5 foot 3 inches.
Pooja: Tumhara kaam to tumhare bachon se important hai. Sirf tumhare bete hi shaadi hai. Aur kuch nahi. No big deal.
Roshni rolled her eyes and went to the table and sat down wondering why her dad tries his luck. They all knew the consequence would be this.
Her cell phone buzzed as she just received a text message. It was from Mr. Kholi and it read, "Come here for a while."
Ranvijay managed to clam Pooja down and they both came and sat at the table. Ranvijay ate quietly and Pooja refused to even look at him. Forget him, even look in his general direction.
Roshni finished, said bye and left. She drove to Mr. Kholi's office and entered the building.
The first thing she saw in the foyer left her stumped, still standing at the door. Anam was standing behind the counter, her eyes shining, her cheeks pink, and her hand held by the guy at the front of the counter. The guy's back was to her but she could recognize those shoulders from a mile away. It was unmistakably Tarun. Tarun was kissing Anam's hand.
Roshni stood frozen at that one spot for a while. Then she heard someone entering behind her. She turned and saw it was Mohan. He smiled at her and looked a little past her head and saw the same scene. His expression suddenly changed to anger.
Mohan and Roshni walked to the counter together, but neither Anam nor Tarun had seemed to notice. Mohan cleared his throat. Both looked at him, Tarun with a sheepish grin while Anam still blushing.
Mohan: Hi Anam. Hi Tarun.
Tarun: Mohan yaar! Long time no see. Kaisa hai?
Mohan: Theek.
Awkward silence.
Roshni: Umm⌠Mohan should we go upstairs?
Mohan: Yeah let's go.
Tarun and Anam watched Mohan and Roshni walk into the elevator and the door close. Once it did, they laughed and gave each other high-fives.
Half an hour later Roshni headed downstairs and into the foyer. She waved bye to Anam, went outside to her car and drove to Tarun's office.
When she got there, again the only parking spot empty was next to Tarun's car, or where his car was supposed to be. The parking spot was empty.
She went upstairs, waved hi to Gurleen and went into her cabin. She glanced into Tarun's through the open blinds and noticed that his seat was empty. She guessed he was at some meeting so she got on with her work.
Roshni worked up till lunchtime. When lunchtime came she drove home and changed into a salwar-suit, then drove to the Sablok residence to pick up Anjali aunty.
After meeting in the mandir on numerous occasions they had decided to just go together every Tuesday.
Anjali: How was work beta?
Roshni: Abhi tak to theek, but I still have half more day to go auntie.
Anjali: Aur kal ki tayeeri kaise chal rahi hai?
Roshni: Well, it's you not us jinhe kal ki tayeeri karni hai. You tell tell me.
Anjali: Well, everything is ready.
They reached the mandir and both prayed. After they got into the car and Roshni was driving to Anjali's house when they got stuck in traffic. And the traffic was such that the cars were hardly moving.
Roshni: Shit!
Anjali: What's wrong beta?
Roshni: I'm going to be late for work aunty.
Anjali: Don't worry. I'm sure your boss won't mind. Just explain your situation, he'll understand.
Roshni: But Tarun will definitely be pissed.
Anjali: Tarun?
Roshni: Yeah, I work for your lawyer, so I spend most of my time at your office. Aap ko nahi pata tha?
Anjali: Nope. This is the first I've heard of this. So you report to Tarun?
Roshni: When I'm at your office, yes.
The traffic cleared slowly, but they were finally out of it. Roshni dropped Anjali home, but realized that she probably didn't have time to go back and change herself. She looked down at herself. She was wearing:

She wasn't too sure if a salwar would be acceptable or not but she had no other choice. She headed to work anyway.
By the time she got there she was one hour late and she had gruelling suspicion that if Tarun was back he would be fuming. She parked her car, but this time, his was there.
She went upstairs and into her cabin. The moment she entered she saw Tarun look up from his laptop ad directly at her through the window. And oddly enough, he gave her a bright smile and motioned her to come into his office.
She knocked and entered.
Tarun: Hi Roshni. You look beautiful.
Roshni: (A slight blush) Thanks.
Tarun: Hoaaye mandir?
Roshni: How did you
Tarun: You forget Rosh, we were a couple once, and so I did know everything about you. And my memory isn't that bad. (A bit sheepishly) Plus mom just called.
Roshni looked at him with amusement for a second before she burst out laughing.
Roshni: Ho come you never told her about me working here?
Tarun: She asked me that too. I guess the chance never came up. We never talked about it.
Roshni: To mein chaloon?
Tarun: Kahan?
Roshni: Apne office.
Tarun: Hmm.
Roshni turned to go, but on second thoughts, turned back around to face him.
Roshni: Umm⌠can I have half day off tomorrow?
Tarun: Sure. Because of the sangeet?
Roshni: Yeah. You know mom. She'll freak if I'm not there helping out.
Tarun: (Laughs) Don't worry. I won't leave you to face the wrath of Pooja aunty. I couldn't do that.
Roshni laughed too and then turned and went to her cabin.
That evening Bani and Pia got home at relatively the same time. They both got changed and started practising their dance steps.
Roshni reached there a little while later.
Pia: (Surprised) Tum suit mein? Did you go home first?
Roshni told her about this afternoon.
Roshni: So anyway. You guys ready?
Bani: Yeah. We were just practising without the music first.
Bani walked over to the CD player, picked the track she wanted and pressed play.
The girls rehearsed their moves over and over till they were in perfect sync with each other and their moves were perfect.
At around midnight they were all sitting with a chilled glass of water in their hands still sweating and panting.
Pia: Now I really hope we are this perfect tomorrow.
Roshni: Don't be negative yaar. We just have to remember our steps and go with the flow. Now I should be going. I told mom that I would be back by one and it's best if I reach before that.
The next morningâŚ
Rashi could hardly sleep all night. The excitement and anxiety was almost killing her.
When she came downstairs it was literally utter chaos in the house. People were running around here and there, fixing this, putting up that. There were people putting up flowers, putting up lights, setting bouquets everywhere, cleaning and any other thing you could think of.
Standing in the middle of all this was Anjali giving an endless list of instructions to random passer by's.
Anjali spotted her and somehow navigated her way to her.
Anjali: Don't tell me you are going to work beta.
Rashi: Mom, mein ghar baithe baithe kya karongi? And I am going only half-day anyways.
Anjali: Okay beta. But you checked everything right?
Rashi: Yeah. Ab Rosh just has to bring over my outfit.
Anjali and Rashi went to the table where Tarun and Rahul were just discussing something. They both sat down too.
Just then Roshni walked in with a few of her female cousins holding a package. (This happens in my family. The boy's sisters deliver the girl's engagement outfit in the morning)
They go through all the rituals and Roshni then hands over the dress to Rashi.
Roshni: Raat ko milte hein.
What are Tarun and Anam planning? Or are they genuinely flirting?
Okay, I realize that this episode absolutely sucked, and I'm sorry about that. But the next one will be about the engagement/ sangeet and will be much more exciting so wait for that.
Please leave comments. You won't believe how inspiring those can be.
