B'wood follows Yash Chopra to Kashmir

After the late filmmaker shot Jab Tak... in the valley, more and more filmmakers are following suit.

After a yawning gap, late Yash Chopra ventured once again into the picturesque Kashmir Valley for the filming of his swan song, Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Ever since, several filmmakers are waking up to the possibilities of this beauteous destination.

While the valley has been Imtiaz Ali's chosen locale for his next, Highway, starring Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt, Siddharth Anand is headed there later this year to shoot Bang Bang with Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif. The latest filmmaker drawn to Kashmir is Abhishek Kapoor aka Gattu, who will shoot his next, inspired by Charles Dickens' Great Expectations in the valley. Said Abhishek: "The film is set in Kashmir. Naturally, the script lends itself to be shot there." A source close to the project said Sushant Singh Rajput has been finalised for the lead while the hunt is on for the leading lady.

Produced by Abhishek's cousin Ekta Kapoor, the team will soon do a recee to identify suitable locations in and around the valley.

Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor, who introduced Sushant Singh Rajput to filmdom with "Kai Po Che!", is all set to roll the cameras with the actor again for his next film, which will be widely shot in Kashmir.
"The film is set in Kashmir and Delhi. So, naturally the script lends itself to be shot in the Valley," Kapoor told IANS.
The said film, produced by Ekta Kapoor, is an adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic novel "Great Expectations".
Sushant plays the protagonist in the film, which will go on floors by October.
A source close to the team said, "So far only the actor has been finalised. The makers are now looking out for the leading lady for their film."

Actor to star in Abhishek Kapoor's next, which is also the director's first romantic film

Director Abhishek Kapoor has carved a niche for himself by making films on non-mainstream subjects. After his debut film Rock On!! (2008), which followed the story of a rock band's ups and downs, and Kai Po Che (KPC), which dealt with the rocky relationship among three friends, the director is all set to explore a classic Bollywood theme — romance. For this film, he will team up with KPC star Sushant Singh Rajput again.

"It's a passionate love story. It's a space I have never ventured into before, but it is a standard genre for Indian cinema. I am going to make the film with Sushant in it," says Abhishek, who has had the idea for a while. It is apparently inspired by Charles Dickens's classic novel, Great Expectations. The director also expresses his desire to work with his other KPC stars, Amit Sadh and Rajkumar again. "It might not be possible to cast all of them in the same film, but yes, I would love to work with Amit and Raju as well," says Abhishek.

He is also set to make another film, this time teaming up with his cousin, producer Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures. Giving out more details about the project, he says, "I am in talks with them and they are still finalising certain things. I am also in talks with other producers, so let's see how it all shapes up," says Abhishek.

A source close to Sushant reveals that he will start work on this film after he completes shooting for Rajkumar Hirani's P.K.
