Aaah! I wish we had a parallel track going where we could see all these things..! coz I was secretly hoping that Kumud will save him :)) Do keep writing Mary..would love to read..😊

Saras dropped his hand from his lips in a startle as Kumud barged into his room yet again.

Kumud watched warily as he sat under the blanket looking vulnerably at her.

Kumud: This is the third time I am here today and I am not leaving unless you forgive me.

Saras got off the bed and tried to storm out but Kumud locked the door and dangled the key in front of him.

Saras shocked: You are not serious!

Kumud arched: It seems I am.

Saras: Do you have any idea what will happen if someone finds out? You already...(he trailed off and blushed furiously).

Kumud's heart trembled a little but her gathered her courage to speak: I did what I had to do to save your life and I am not ashamed of it. There was nothing to it, so you can stop turning pink now.

Saras' hand flew to his cheeks but he quickly recovered.

Saras: I am not forgiving you for what you made me relive. Now, go back to your room.

Kumud: I did not know your mom...it was innocent fun and I said sorry! I also saved your life. How many times must I apologize?

Saras thought hard for a second: It is not a trade Kumud.

Kumud pouted and jingled away to sit down on the chair by the open window.

Kumud: Suit yourself. You have all the time you need to cool down. I am in no hurry.

Later:

Saras walked about her room in frustration as Kumud watched. Occasionally glaring at her with those pretty eyes, he spent most of the time looking at the door, alarmed at any little noise he heard. Including a pigeon flying by.

Little did he know that there was nothing to worry about. Everyone was out for one business or other, no one was home. But he was stuck on the second floor being pampered all day, so he had no idea. Had Kumud's mother known it would just end up being Saras and Kumud at home alone, she would never have left to see her friend. Thankfully she did and Kumud used this chance to come badger him.

He suddenly stopped pacing: I can't believe you locked us in!

Kumud shrugged: Only until you forgive me.

Saras: What if your Bari Ma comes by? She will be really mad at you.

Kumud: That's why I am sitting by the window. I can see anyone who comes by.

Saras: You are impossibly stubborn!!!

Kumud: I can say the same about you.

Saras: What will VC Kaka think if he sees us!?

Kumud: Guess we will find out, he should be home any moment from the karkhana.

Saras: Fine. Fine! I forgive you. Now, PLEASE unlock the door.

Kumud jumped for joy as if this was bigger than any "kai po che" moment.

Kumud: Yes! Yes, I made you say it. I did. I did!

She was too occupied to notice that her innocent outburst really melted Saras' frustration and now, he really did forgive her - not as a result of locking him and pushing him to the edge...but because he saw now how much this forgiveness really meant to her.

As soon as she snapped out of it, Kumud gave him a cute disapproving look for smiling at her and sashayed out of his room.

Saras went back into the reverie he was in before Kumud came in and interrupted him. Every cell in his body was hyper aware and he had goosebumps as he remembered how exactly she had saved his life. He imagined that he could remember how magical her lips felt against his. No! How could he remember, he was choking! It was probably nowhere near as beautiful as he thought it now...

He could recall a few things. How her berry-soft lips felt against his lips, how her waterfall of hair around his face smelled like fresh coconut oil. He loved that fragrance so much...

A chime snapped him out of it again.

Saras blinked Kumud into focus. She was looking at him quizzically.

Kumud, eyebrows rising: What...are you doing?

Saras' eyes widened: Nothing!

Kumud: You were smiling by yourself looking at the little elephant decorations on the wall.

Saras crimsoned and fumbled: No, I was not. I...I mean, they are nice, did you make them?

Kumud warily: Yes...anyway. Come to dinner, Bapu is here and he's looking for you.

Saras sobered and nodded.

Saras: I will be there in a minute.

Kumud gave him the "you are odd" look again before twinkling away, her waist trinket chiming enchantingly.

Saras sighed in relief.

Okay, this is reality then. I regret pinching myself so hard.

Anyways. Mary, I can't believe you actually wrote an OS again! I'm sorry for replying this late...But for me it was worth the wait *Winks*

As usual it was lovely <not a compliment, just a thought as you said> I loved the way your mind imagines. Unique. I usually day dream and come up with MANY stories <you wouldn't believe how many> but I never thought from this angle. Loved it!

You know, I've always liked prose style of writing but was never able to contemplate or tune with drama-dialogue style <I think you get what I mean> It is you who has changed my attitude, and has made me realize that drama style writing can be as effective as prose.

I loved every bit... Wish I can get a small portion of your imaginative part of your brain in bargain with my senseless heart!

heheh thank you, I thought the way Saras is, he's more likely to be embarrassed by the whole thing rather than Kumud 😆
