Virat did not want to tell his family about his disease but Manvi insisted him that they had every right to know. After a lot of convincing from Manvi he relented and decided to tell them the truth.
They entered the Vadhera mansion hand in hand. As soon as the family members saw them they rushed towards the door. Vanshika immediately questioned Virat, "Virat what is going on? You cheated on Manvi?" She had tears in her eyes and she looked towards Manvi, "Manvi are you alright? Manvi I apologize on behalf of Virat."
Jeevika too rushed towards Manvi, "Mannu where were you? Do have any idea how scared I was? Don't you ever do this to me." She quickly pulled Manvi for a hug.
On the other side Virat was getting questioned by his family members. He looked towards Manvi; he couldn't tell them the truth, he needed her. She saw his defeated expression and she knew he wouldn't be able to say anything so she stepped forward and spoke, "Ma, jiju, di, bua ji, dada ji, chachu, chachi please listen to me. It is not Virat's fault. He did not cheat on me, he is innocent." Everybody was shocked hearing this. They looked at Manvi for further explanation.
Virat didn't want to witness this, he didn't want to give them so much pain. Wasn't it enough that he'd already hurt Manvi? Now would he have to hurt his family too? What about his mom, she lost her husband now can she go through losing her son too?
"Manvi." He tried to stop her but she shook her head. "No Virat they need to know the truth. You can't hide it from them."
Hearing this Vanshika tensed up even more. She knew that something was terribly wrong otherwise why would Virat lie about cheating on Manvi and disappear on his wedding day. She grabbed Manvi's hand and questioned, "What is Virat hiding Manvi? Please tell me. I'm scared Manvi, what is it?"
Manvi looked around the room, everyone was waiting for her to say something but she couldn't make herself say it. It would shatter them, and seeing them shattered Virat would lose hope too. She looked at Vanshika ma, it wouldn't be fair to a mother to hide such a huge truth about her son. Holding Vanshika's hands Manvi slowly spoke, "Ma Virat is not well that is why he lied. He was trying to drive us away."
"Not well? What happened to him?" Vanshika barely whispered.
"Should I call the doctor Virat?" Viren placed his palm on Virat's forehead to check if he had fever. Being a lawyer Viren figured out that Virat must have some deadly disease but he wasn't ready to accept it. His little brother can't be unwell. "Manvi nothing is wrong with Virat. He pranked us thats it. Nice prank bhai. You got us." Viren hugged Virat and kept blabbering, "Everything is fine bhai. I'm here with you and will always be. I promised dad. You are fine." Pulling out of the hug Viren continued, "It is a prank. Ma it is a prank don't worry." Tapping Virat's cheeks, "Virat why aren't you saying anything? It is a prank right? Virat?"
Virat couldn't even look at his brother, he was that shattered. Viren kept questioning him but he stood there without speaking a word. "Virat?" Viren asked again.
Viren hugged Virat again, "What happened? What is it?" Looking towards Manvi he questioned, "Manvi what is wrong with my brother?"
"Jiju jiju." Manvi stammered.
"Jiju Virat has stage two leukemia."
Virat stepped forward and hugged his mom.
Vanshika felt suffocated, she couldn't breathe. She needed to get out, go somewhere, anywhere. She wanted to scream and question God. Her baby, her Virat has leukemia? That can't be true. God can not be that cruel. After losing her husband she continued living just for her children. What if Virat leaves her too? No she will not let that happen. She decided to do everything in her power to save her baby.
She felt Virat hugging her and she hugged him back. Now everything that happened in the past days made sense to her. Why Virat was acting aloof, the lies he said about cheating on Manvi; he was trying to distance himself from everybody. She looked at Manvi who didn't have a single drop of tear in her eyes and this made Vanshika's resolve stronger. She decided to not shed a single drop of tear and help her baby get through this trying time.
Caressing his hair she spoke, "Virat everything will be alright. I will never let anything happen to you. I'm with you Virat. Everything will be alright." Moving out of the hug she wiped his tears and placed her palm on his cheeks. "Why didn't you tell me before? Did you think I won't be able to bear it?"
He nodded his head.
"No silly. I will be your strength not your weakness. We will get through this okay?"
Virat stared at his mom and nodded again. He felt like a huge burden was lifted off his shoulders. The new found hope in him was due to his mom. He thought she would be broken after hearing about his illness instead she motivated him to fight it.
"Thank you mom." He whispered and Vanshika hugged him again.
